Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It really bugged me that they didn't go the Noble Demon, Face–Heel Turn, Redemption Equals Death way with Kurse. I still haven't quite gotten over how much they totally wasted the character, especially since the movie lent itself to that kind of plotline (which would've given the villains some much needed development) anyway.
I'm not sure. They're both The Professor. What Loki has Selvig doing in Avengers, and much of what Jane does and understands in Thor 2, doesn't have much to do with what they were studying in the first film.
I'd say if it's even vaguely related to astrophysics, they can finagle Selvig and Jane doing it.

I don't hate her (though Natalie Portman is an actress who does really nothing for me..she doesn't annoy me, but she also never adds anything to the roles she plays, she is just there), but she is so badly written, you could remove her from the first two movies and it would barely make any difference. I still think that her role in the first two movies would have worked better without Selvig in the picture.
Someone earlier suggested that it could easily be solved by having a different actress play her when she turns into Thor (or just in general). The biggest problem is that they introduced Jane in such an annoying manner that I don't think anyone would actually want to see her as a superhero.
Yeah. The depowering of Thor and rise of "Fosterdottir" felt kind of.....forced. So seeing the same thing happen in the MCU would be sort of a letdown.....UNLESS it's Gwendolyn Christie permanently replacing Portman (as in Shapeshifter Mode Lock) like I suggested, because she has the presence and charm to make that sort of role work in spades.

Ryan Coogler officially directing Black Panther
. Awesome! Edit: Wait nevermind, he's just in negotiations.
I wonder if he's confirmed whether we'll be seeing Michael B. Jordan show up.

I don't know, one website is saying that it's confirmed that Coogler will direct, while Variety says he's just in talks.
But in any case: awesome. I heard both Fruitvale Station and Creed were great and Coogler has shown he can helm a big budget movie sequel (which, you know, Creed was).
Calling it now, Michael B. Jordan will be Killmonger.

Ryan Coogler has been in the ol' rumor mill for a few weeks.
And Cate Blanchett was rumored for Thor, and Kurt Russell for Guardians 2. There are a lot of rumors basically.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectWell, there'll probably be a new Civil War trailer soon-ish, and other Phase 3 stuff at Comic Con.
But yeah, nothing worth mentioning. It's too early in the year.

Now I want to see Peter, Deadpool, and Tony all sit down together and give Twilight the MST 3 K treatment.
Actually, not a direct example, but I distinctly remember Deadpool's succubus wife reading Twilight little time after their wedding. Considering she knew Dracula personally, her reaction was just as funny as you'd expect.

So... seeing as vampires are a thing that verifiably exists in the Marvel universe, would that make 616!Stephanie Meyer an even bigger Cloudcuckoolander for writing such factually inaccurate versions of them?

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.

Comic Malekith is more of an unhinged, Joker-like entity. Which is why the stoic, comically-serious version of him in the MCU is a total letdown.
Would have been nice if he was Mr. Grouchypants for the first part of the film but went total nutso after eating the Aether. Would also show that even people strong-willed enough to use an Infinity Stone without some external control medium (The Universal Weapon or Infinity Gauntlet) still suffer severe consequences, be it physical or mental.
Anyway, I don't really hate Natalie Portman or Jane. I just find her kinda boring, she mostly exists as Thor's shallow love interest and doesn't really have much characterization beyond that. Darcy and Selvig are much more entertaining and engaging as characters, and the latter is more useful for explaining the science
and killing Malekiththan Jane is anyway so she winds up feeling like a superfluous Romantic Plot Tumor.edited 30th Dec '15 8:47:31 PM by Anomalocaris20
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
