Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It's pretty funny they somehow mixed up Black Panther with a Neo-Nazi.
As for Giant-Man, toy sets are known for taking a lot of liberties with the film, but I do think this would make sense here. Everything else on that box seems to line up with what we know about that scene (except maybe the Quinjet), and Peyton Reed said something in an interview about being jealous about Civil War doing something with Ant-Man he wished he'd gotten to do in the first Ant-Man movie.
Okay, I'm a little late to the conversation, but I have to ask: am I really the only one that isn't taking it as fact that the Winter Soldier killed Tony's parents? because I've watched that movie several times now, and that's not what I took away from that sequence at all.
Not to mention, why would they need the Soldier, a very resource-heavy asset, to stage a car accident? Seems awfully below his rating to me.
I understand he did kill the Starks in the comics, but this isn't the comics. The cinematic universe is a completely different continuity.
Please note, in the upcoming Civil War, it would not surprise me at all if Tony blames Bucky for his parents murder regardless of whether he actually did or not. Which, now that I think of it, would make the conflict between Steve and Tony that much more personal.

That's what I thought when I saw that scene too. Seems too much work for just sabotaging a car's breaks improperly, and that they were referring to HYDRA as a whole being complicit in his assassination, but that it just happened to be timed with the shot of the Winter Soldier.
But thinking on it again, the other possible explanation is that Howard and Maria Stark knew they were in the crosshairs and were well protected, but the Winter Soldier got past their defenses, gave chase, they got into a car, and then crashed trying to escape him because he was that good, and HYDRA had enough control over the media to sell it as a simple crash.
Anyway, if Tony blames Bucky for the deed, even though Bucky was essentially a HYDRA gun with feet, then I hope Wanda or Steve points out the irony of Tony not being to blame for his company's bombs falling on Sokovia.

He didn't kill the Starks in the comics.
People believe Bucky killed the Starks because it'd provide more incentive for Tony to want him taken down.

Not that I know of
though something of the reverse once happened:
Matt had a bunch of marvel characters with similar levels of agility (Nightcrawler, Iron Fist, that Arana girl) put on Spidey costumes and bounce around to impersonate him when the latter was on trial.

Huh. I thought I'd read somewhere (this thread or somewhere on Tumblr, maybe) that in the comics Bucky did kill Tony's parents, which was why people assumed the same was true in the movie. Or maybe I really did read that, and just didn't realize it was wrong. I guess that's the downside to having never read the comics.

I once made a "My black best friend can beat up your best black best friend" joke about Stark and Rogers and in this promo art, you know what's right there? Falcon fighting War Machine.
This crap writes itself.
Also, I see someone in the writing room made a mistake. "War Hammer". I mean, unless they're implying Osborn took over the suit or something.

I don't know man.
Remember that time she went crazy and melted him?
Some stuff, you don't come back from.
One Strip! One Strip!Noticed Sharon's not in either pic, interesting. I guess all the flame wars over Sharon "stealing" Wanda's rightful place in the movie were really premature. Though I'm a little worried she'll continue to be so Out of Focus any romance would feel out of place.

Pretty sure the set names for the Black Panther and Crossbones sets are swapped.
Also Captain Marvel's in the cartoon set with Hyperion, and the Giant-Man figure in the airport set looks kinda dopey. Lego Sharon Carter was a nice surprise, though.
This place is careless.
