Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

RE: Iron Fist showrunner and synopsis:
On one hand: Yay!
Hope we find out who's playing Danny (or should I say Daniel) soon.
On the other hand:
Please no Fatalities.
Please no Fatalities.
Please no Fatalities.
2 episodes? I get Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy but that's a little extreme.
Here's an actual article about the new showrunner, Scott Buck.
I'm still waiting for who is going to play Danny Rand. Personally, I'm hoping for Oscric Chau
.
Scott Buck? Responsible for season 8 of Dexter Scott Buck? Not hopeful for Iron Fist right now.
So... Batman?
Seriously though, glad they're starting it off after the origin.
We've had two Netflix series so far and both times the origin story has been in flashbacks. Given a Luke Cage series is gonna have to take place after Jessica Jones, adding to the trend, I dunno why anyone was expecting Iron Fist to lead with his backstory.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Oh that reminded me of something. In that cut Loki scene linked to several pages back, I was kind of surprised how much I liked the look of Asgard. I previously thought it looked too modern, but seeing it again, it's a very cool/unique look. Sort of Clock Punk.
I think Iron Fist's casting within the next few months is just about a certainty, my guess is that Marvel wanted to get a showrunner on board first so he/she could have input on who would actually play Iron Fist.
And since they seem to want to set the series to start just after Danny Rand returns to New York City, he couldn't possibly appear in Luke Cage because the timeline doesn't allow it, so there was no reason for him to be cast early like Luke Cage was.
2 episodes? I get Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy but that's a little extreme.
With all due respect, we're talking about a show that had its first episode end with a missing person being reunited with her parents only to shoot them to death on an elevator, and the second episode had that same person tell our protagonist "It's not my fault, it's yours." Both times under the control of a mind manipulating jerkwad who is otherwise played by a really awesome actor. And as I found out because I spoiled myself like crazy, that same victim ended up committing suicide towards the end just so the protagonist can focus on just killing the SOB.
Yeah, I get that this show's job is to be dark. But as Yahtzee puts it in his review of Five Nights At Freddys, it does its job too well.

Sorry, but all this talk about Spiders vs Ants makes me think of this
