Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Forever liveblogging the Avengers
At the very least, that should be how Spiderman is introduced in Civil War.
IRONMAN: Okay, look Cap. I know you don't want to fight me. Hell, I wouldn't want to fight me. So why don't all we go over to my place, have a few drinks, and—
[All of a sudden, the words ' HOKUTSIN GEEEEEENIEEEEE! HOKUTSIN GEEEEENIEEEEE! ' can be heard from above. All look up to see a gigantic robot flying in from on high, with Spiderman being visible in the cockpit. '
CAP: ...What was that about going over to your place?
IRONMAN: Yeah, I figured you'd say that.

I do believe in the comics Spidey actually observes Cap could beat him down very easily, mostly because Captain is a much more experienced and ruthless fighter than Spider-Man is, plus the shield gives him an edge.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Doesn't Cap's reliance on the shield actually work as a massive disadvantage against someone like Spidey? He could just catch it with his webs and throw it away. After that, what's stoping Spidey to just swing around him and web-spam him into submission?
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing. This Spidey, even if he is an already-established hero by the time he turns up, still has a lot less experience than Cap. I would say Cap would beat Spider-Man most of the time but not necessarily all of the time (Spidey's current tech kick might give him an edge for example) due to an edge in tactics.
Also, barely related but this kind of reminds me of Spidey's dialogue at the bottom here
◊ after he does manage to grab the shield in the Inverted V Mighty Avengers battle.

I think secondary powers are undervalued tools here. Spidey doesn't just have an edge because he's got superior physical stats, if he properly utilizes the spider-sense he can tell when Cap's gearing up for an attack.
Not to mention that the shield is also easily removed (not to say that it's the be-all end-all of what Cap has, but it is a large portion of his offense and defense) when you combine adhesive fingers with greater physical strength.
Cap has fought roughly a year, maybe more (from early 1943 to late 1944, maybe early 1945) or so in WWII, the bloodiest conflict in human history and against super-science Nazis, the Chitauri, several SHIELD agents (and a motherfucking quinjet), and a unspecified amound of enemies while working for SHIELD in-between The Avengers and The Winter Soldier, and a also unspecified amount of HYDRA goons in-between Avengers and Age of Ultron. He's as veteran as one can get, while Spidey is a youngster with not much experience.
He has experience aplenty on the open battlefield (WWII plus the Battle of New York), and urban warfare (his operations for SHIELD, with the Avengers, most of Winter Soldier).
Being bashed with a Vibranium-alloy shield by a man as strong as Cap could mess up Spidey something fierce.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."And how exactly his experience going to prevent him from getting webbed to submission by someone who is stronger (or at least evenly matched), faster, knows in and outs of the battleground (again, assuming the fight takes place in present day NYC), keener reflex and senses, without any ranged attack (because Spidey's not an idiot and will take away his shield anyway)?
It's not like he spent many years fighting superhumans in the caliber of Spiderman during the War.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.Spider-Man really shouldn't lose a fight to Captain America, but events tend to give certain characters Popularity Power.

He is in the comics, yes. His real identity appeared on the third episode of Agents of SHIELD, but he did not become Graviton in it.
As far as the two fighting, I have no idea if it ever happened in the comics.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
