Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm disappointed but not surprised.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. That's rather a jump. It says that it's a UN panel, so it's going to have been set up by the UN, which is run by the governments of the world acting in a democratic system of one nation one vote. That's a much less "random group of people" then the current people who decide when the Avengers deploy, the Avengers themselves.
As for oversight stopping the Hulk rampage, well an oversight group would probably not have felt it was "appropriate and/or necessary" for the Hulk to be in the field.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranEspecially if they were just going to leave him in the car.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Article on Black Panther in Civil War
. Looks like they're doubling down on him as a neutral party.

That will be interesting and I'm certainly glad to hear it. The Sokovia Accords are shittier than the SHRA. Correctly focused on superheroes over superhumans but without any redeeming qualities whatsoever.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. The solo Spider-man movie will be about Spidey fighting and trying to thwart a bunch of heists by The Vulture while including and focusing on his school life, friends, and frienamies. A complaint by people who've only seen the trailers and short scenes will be that Peter is acting a little too irresponsible for a character who revolves around responsibility.
The plot twist will be that Uncle Ben has actually been alive and well for most of the movie until he finds out that Peter is Spider-man, gives him the 'with great power, comes great responsibility' speech and is killed from an irresponsible mistake Pete makes.

I hope that they use J. Jonah Jameson for the Spider-Man movie and that they use the version of him who distrusts Spider-Man specifically because he's suspicious of the concept of masked vigilantism and can't fathom the idea of an anonymous individual being a hero like astronauts, soldiers, or most of the Avengers.
As opposed to the version who hates all superheroes and just likes to focus on Spider-Man because reasons.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.JJJ sometimes randomly decides to throw all his support behind a masked vigilante.
Who inevitably turn out to be villains.
Or, Silk, I guess.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersBecause the world is a big place and superheroes can't be everywhere because sometimes they have to punch robot nazis in the face on the moon instead of stopping a bank robbery.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI saw a podcast title the other day called "Black Panther's debut was running from the cops"
My various fanfics. This would especially work in a post Civil-War world, if Spidey continues to operate without Accord control.
I mean, that podcast title isn't wrong.
Black Panther's first story in the Avengers book had him falsely accused of murdering the Avengers.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers@Why is there still non-super crime in a comic world: It's mostly a combination of superheroes not being omniscient and focusing on more important issues. I mean Iron Man could stop a bank robbery if he wanted to but it's a little below his pay grade. It's also a waste of time when you have various terrorist groups and evil business tycoons trying to enact their evil plans.
Glad to hear BP is still neutral even though he was on Iron Man's side in the art. I'm guessing that was just visual shorthand.
There was a subplot in Scarlet Spider about criminals actually moving to other cities because 99 percent of all the world's superheroes live in New York. Everywhere else is relatively undefended.
I figured Loki must have found out his true parentage sometime before the start of the movie, and that's why he set his whole plan into motion. So, yeah, I thought his shock during that scene was part of the act, too.

That seems like it would be uncomfortable.
When we're done, there won't be anything left.
