Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Isn't Ross in this film too? As far as I can remember, movie!Ross (at least the Sam Elliot version from the first Hulk) is actually really reasonable. He's a Reasonable Authority Figure trying to deal with a rage-monster that can fight entire armies and win, who happens to trapped in a normal guy. He's playing a balancing act between salvaging the Hulk for weapons research, trying to do right by Bruce for his daughter's sake, and neutralizing a major threat to the human race.
I never saw the second movie, did he go off the deep end in that one?

Yeah, MCU Ross is a dick whose stubborn selfishness makes life worse off for a lot of people. He's not evil, but he has a very self-centered and militaristic worldview and mostly cares about the Hulk for the weapon value, as well as the personal glory of being the one to successfully bring back the super-soldier.
I think Talbot as seen in Agents of SHIELD might have been a better choice for the kind of role Ross seems to have here. Talbot may be just as stubborn and quick to action even when unnecessary, but his reasons are more genuine - he truly does think that his targets are dangerous and need to be controlled for more or less sincere reasons, and wouldn't feel like he had an ulterior movie.
On the other hand, I really, really, really hope they don't retcon Ross as being HYDRA. I like how he's a flawed but not horrible individual, spurred on by mistakes and personal failings rather than outright evil or cruelty - the MCU doesn't have a whole lot of those. Plus it would make The Consultant stop making sense.

Kinda feels like something I brought up is getting buried. So...
Hey, about the possible Moon Knight series on Netflix, if they're gonna have a scene with this line:
I have a feeling that they might have to replace the very last word since they sort of really use that very word on Jessica Jones. Probably with something like "So be happy."

It would be really neat if, but I don't know if they want to.
Anyway... if the series actually became a legitimate thing, I doubt we would see Mr. Spector until after Iron Fist. I mean it could come before, but I don't think it would.

I'd like to see her at least one more time, whenever Robert Downey Jr. has his final appearance as well.
It could be a money thing as well. There's already so much cash being spent in these movies that it might not seem worth it to the bean counters to pay supporting cast members and love interests to show up for glorified cameos. I'm still impressed that they tried to have Tom Hiddleston do a one day cameo in AOU.
The first Avengers movie was already pretty light on the other characters' supporting casts.
It would be so clinched if Loki pulls a Heroic Sacrifice in the Infinity War, allowing The Avengers to win against Thanos. XD
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.

I'm just gonna take Steve's side.
Last time Tony wanted to do something for the world's security, it apmost destroyed Earth. XP
