Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I imagine we'll get Daredevil vs. somebody. Jessica and Luke are already on good terms and already had a fight, and Iron Fist will presumably be on good terms with Luke before Defenders, leaving Matt as the only "outsider" who risks having a misunderstanding.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Also, since Jessica is now officially in the slot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Greatest Detective, even if she does lose a fight like that we should totally get something like this.
Not the actual fight itself, but the part where she retaliates by tracking him down and figuring out his secret identity.

Yeah, Jessica's gonna need to play up her detectiveness come Defenders. Matt and Danny have way more martial skill, while Luke's stronger and way more durable.
I'm more wondering how they'll differentiate Matt and Danny. Even if their abilities come from different sources, both are martial arts masters with enhanced senses.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! She was only just keeping up even before he popped a pill. Same in Episode 3, where she had to get Trish to play possum because she realized this guy wasn't just some beat cop she could... beat.
Jessica's problem is that while she's insanely strong, which is good for scaring the shit out of normies, she has no formal combat training and anything she can't just smash with one punch, such as someone who can dodge or take her blows and hit back nearly as hard, she has to outwit.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Doesn't Iron Fist have, like, magic, or something?
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. So I heard that The Punisher will appear in Dare Devil.
Awwwww yeeeaaaahhhhhhhhh.
Shit, if I didn't have a reason to watch that yet, I sure as Hell do now.
Probably tone. Though they're both martial arts masters and such, Matt is a grim and somewhat grounded "in the shadows" ninja kind of character, while Danny is a flashy example of bombastic martial arts action and super-mysticism. Even if he's not completely 70's (and given that Luke thankfully wasn't either, it's possible he won't be), it's still a very different take on the concept.
Even when fighting side by side, they'd ideally seem completely different - in part through sheer force of personality.

That is a very fair question. I believe Danny even acted as Daredevil for a while, in the comics, when Matt was unavailable for a time.
Anyway, I think Unknown is right. They have different enough personalities that, even if they fight similarly, they are fairly distinguishable.
Here's the thing: Daredevil is the most "superhero" of all the Netflix heroes. Jessica Jones was specifically designed to be a hardboiled PI, Luke Cage was designed to be a blaxploitation character, and Iron Fist was designed to be a martial arts hero.

Jessica is strong but is apparently only a slightly tougher than a regular person (and she seems to heal fast) - enough that she can shrug off getting shot in the right place, but isn't about to go walking in front of bullets. Weapons and even a regular brawl can hurt her almost as much as a normal person. So her powers only give her the edge insofar as she can hit him - and he's got the whole "insane ninja training + spider-sense" bit.
So Daredevil would probably win, especially if he got the drop on her.
And that brings up a good point - should we be expecting a Let's You and Him Fight situation when the gang first meets, a la Iron Man vs Thor in Avengers? Jessica Jones did give us a Jessica vs Luke sequence, even if it only happened thanks to Kilgrave's manipulation.
