Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Clock & Dagger are interesting because they are very flashy, power-heavy characters, but have a very gritty, grounded environment similar to Jessica Jones - they have both huge, apocalyptic threats that lend to a singular epic plot, and more conspiratorial mafia-esque enemies and character foibles that let to something more episodic.
I could see them working well as either a movie or a tv show. And imo, the MCU should have at least one street level movie, Spider-Man nonwithstanding (since his movies almost never play up his street level characteristics).
Phyla-Vell and Moondragon please.
Monica Rambeau. nexxxxxxtwaaaaave
Spider-Girl.
Also the All-Marvel Marvel Squad. Starring all the Marvels.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI kinda wouldn't mind Squirrel Girl, actually...
Even if one of her more memorable encounters is with someone tied up in the F4 franchise, and thus unavailable to the MCU.
Just keep down the Penance wangst.

Isn't there an interview from someone at Marvel Studios that said they aren't going to make any movies that aren't huge, hundred-million dollar spectacles? That was why they gave Daredevil a TV show instead of a movie: the character lends himself to smaller scale stories, but a small scale action movie isn't going to draw in the kinds of crowds they're looking for.
I think that Cloak and Dagger would sell well on the title alone. If they sell the concept as some sort of modern Robin Hood story with gritty undertones, it should get the interest of the audience, and being part of the MCU would give it the last push.
And why shouldn't they give a street level hero the blockbuster treatment?
I second the motion for Hercules. And I'd love to see Man-Thing in the MCU (we know he exists, thanks to Ao S, which would give us an excuse for more Howard the Duck.
Didn't Mac mention he wanted one on Agents of SHIELD this past week? Is that a reference to something?
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I saw how some of you guys were talking about Kraven the Hunter. Looking up, apparently Kraven's Last Hunt is one of the best Spiderman storylines of all time.
...Apparently he wears silly pants and fires lasers from his nipples?

It looks pretty good. As for the music...I think I understand what they're going for, but it sounds...confused.
Oh God! Natural light!

Thank god I didn't have to use that word that often. Probably used the word less than a dozen time in my whole life.
But still!
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.
