Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Interesting.
If it's Hel I wonder whether they'll keep the ties to Loki.
It will probably be the Enchantress. But I hope they do include Hela, if only in cameo, because she has one of the coolest costumes ever.

CBR gives it's list of villains they'd like to see Spider-Man fight in the MCU
I'd like to see Kingpin in the new Spider-Man film actually, just so that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a legitimate case of Rogues' Gallery Transplant.

Kraven would be a good choice.
My personal choices would be Shocker, Mysterio, Vulture, or Molten Man. But Shocker or Mysterio is my first choice.
You know, it's weird, I have never heard of Morlun until I read that article.
But then I had never heard of Molten Man until I read a bunch of Essential Spider-man collections back in High School, that dude recurred a TON back in the old days. I'm really surprised I never saw him adapted into anything.
The Blog The Art
He actually showed up in The Spectacular Spider Man a couple of times. Still wasn't too prominent though.

Kraven is probably my favorite Spider-Man villain but I feel his greatest story (Kraven's Last Hunt) requires him to be introduced first. Kraven's Last Hunt is sort of triggered by Kraven's mind unravelling as he fails to capture Spider-Man so many times. That story only functions if he fights Spidey more than once in the movies. If he's introduced as already completely bonkers in his hunt for Spider-Man the story loses a lot of its punch.
He'd work as a secondary villain of a first movie, then do Kraven's Last Hunt in the second or third.
If you ask me, Mr. Negative, the duality-of-good-and-evil-based villain with the powers to influence people's goodness and evil and employ negative energy to mess things up, would be a great choice. Have Ken Watannabe play him and I'm sold.
But on Kraven, what I always wanted to see is a Crocodile Hunter esque mockumentary with Kraven going around New York with a (probably kidnapped and forced to work for him) camera crew, lecturing the viewer on the wildlife of the big apple and the many dangerous creatures he has to hunt for a living, like the ellusive Spider-Man.

Only if Peter Parker gets his own dance number.

Direct adaptations of specific comic book stories are pretty rare anyways. Civil War for example is going to have some significant changes to it's premise.
A hypothetical Spider-Man movie with Kraven as the primary antagonist would draw influences from many different appearances on top of adding it's own flavor to the character, even if the movie is subtitled "Kraven's Last Hunt".

Ken Watannabe is a great actor but Martin Li/Mr. Negative is Chinese- so I don't know, maybe Chow Yun-Fat? (although, there's already some All Asians Are Alike with the character since he has Ninja enforcers).
I think he'd be a good choice especially if the MCU uses the more modern Norman Osborne (ie the completely evil one). Because Negative has similar disassociate identity disorder issues as the traditional/original Osborne.
Also, I meant to comment when I brought up Overdrive recently (who received his powers from him). Negative's powers are (now) tied to Cloak and Dagger, and he and a lot of the "street level" characters (i.e. Purple Man, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, etc.) could really easily have a common Meta Origin- you could say that they were all exposed to different versions of a chemical/drug. You could even say in some of the cases that it was some kind of drug made by combining that with Extremis.
When Spiderman comes out Peter will be 17 and only 3 years of crime fighting with no trained experience, unless Civil War proves otherwise, by those around him. Hmmmm this would be interesting to see when he fights against his baddies. I think they should go big rather than a low tier. Also I wonder what they will do with Eddie Brock.
I think Wasp should be in Spideman because it's thematic and would reveal something new about her as she interacts with a teenager.

Oh man, I'm pumped. She was by far my favourite character from Daredevil.
