Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Frankly, I've never been convinced that what fans actually want is Miles Morales, and are instead looking for Peter Parker to be black. Which I wouldn't have a problem with, but be fucking honest with yourself.
And that's my last word on the matter.
I don't see it. Emma Stone has never struck me as being particularly interested in or suited toward Action Girl roles.

See the second half of that paragraph that you ignored.
And as much as I enjoy Brienne (not so much in Season 5 when her job was just "stare gloomily at Winterfell"), and Captain Phasma is shaping up to be my favourite new Star Wars characters, I don't see Gwendoline Christie being Carol Danvers, no.

We'll see. I'm not getting too attached to any TFA antagonists not named Supreme Commander Snoke. Not even Kylo Ren. Because somebody has to be this movie's Tarkin/Maul. That said, Phasma looks tailor-made to be the Sequel Trilogy's Boba Fett.

She's actually be a pretty awesome Jennifer Walters.

I think they mean in terms of what kind of character rather than a 1:1 exact ratio.
My various fanfics.Look, I'm not saying she literally fills the same role as Boba Fett. I'm saying that her entire role could be Kylo Ren pointing to her and saying "No disintegrations" and people would still be talking about her because she just oozes cool.
EDIT: And you weren't responding to me there. Derp. XP

Ant-Man is actually kind of weird in the way it's structured. One could argue that what the movie is "about" is the relationships between fathers and daughters, and Scott and Hope are equally part of that story. Scott is the wayward father trying to do right by his daughter, and Hope is the wronged daughter learning to forgive her father.
Like, it's the same goddamn story, and they play different halves of it. Given that they're both in the title of the next one, I'm hoping their series kind of sticks with that structure. That their arcs dovetail with each other to show you a complete picture.
EDIT: Also, as long as I'm making wishes for Ant-Man sequels, more Michael Peña, please.

George Lucas has enough influence decide to whether Boba Fett lives or dies. He may not be in charge of the new movies anymore, but he's still the guy who created the franchise as well as the creative consultant for the The Force Awakens. Also, George Lucas confirmed in a meeting with Jonathan Rinzler, the head of the licensing division of Lucasarts, that Boba Fett is still alive.
But we're getting off subject.

My #1 seed for Carol will always and forever be, until the official casting is made, motherfucking Brienne of Tarth.
My various fanfics.
