Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Praying to god for a Call-Back Loki slam.
Ok, everyone probably knows it by now, but what the heck, it's worth sharing again.
Holy Crap, Thor: Ragnarok is officially a team-up movie between Thor and Hulk!
Once again, Marvel Studios reminds us how awesome it is! ![]()

Wait, I'm not the only one who's all for this, am I?
I'm sort of excited but I'm really more bewildered since the logical conclusion of Hulk abandoning the Avengers tends to not fall under "scooped up into Thor's end of the world story".
I mean, how did Thor find him? Didn't he already go back to Asgard? Why did he specifically pick up Hulk? Is this how they're going to explain why he wasn't in the Civil War? Why would Banner need to be involved in Asgardian affairs? What do they want with him? Did he make the choice to go there? If so, Why?
Like characterization-wise and logistically this whole thing sort of confuses me. I want to know what the scheme is.
The Blog The ArtDon't forget Loki is currently masquerading as Odin and might have a bit of a grudge against the big green guy who smashed him into a pulp. Wouldn't be surprised if he's the one who abducted Hulk.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Ragnarok better have a scene of Hulk pounding Loki into the floor for old times' sake.
Anyway, don't particularly mind Hulk going the same route as Hawkeye and Black Widow; no solo films, but shows up as supporting character in other people's.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Ragnarok turns out to be an adaptation of Hulk Vs: Thor.

In all seriousness, I think we may get a loose Planet Hulk adaptation for perhaps 1/4 - 1/3 of the movie.

Thor 2 didn't "kind of suck". It was more successful than its predecessor and a lot of people much proffered it to the first one. The movie is bit contentious, sure, but hardly enough so it "needs" a completely new "hook" to grab people. Just doing the same thing and adding more Loki would probably do the job, actually.

The Thor films have always been kinda mediocre, mostly because Thor himself isn't that compelling. The first movie did both too good a job in developing him because by the end he has no real flaws left, and too bad a job because his development is both kinda muted and not especially interesting in and of itself.
Honestly, I feel like if Thor had been more compelling, they could've left Loki's arc especially as it already is and people wouldn't go half as apeshit about him as they do because there'd be something else to look forward to in a Thor film.
Which isn't to say I don't like Jane and Darcy and Sif, but that's mostly because they're female characters in roles that almost always go to dudes. (I mean scientist, for Jane, I mean. Obs love interests are usually women.) The movies don't care much for fleshing them out either.
So yeah, sure, dump Hulk in. Anything to take focus off the dang title character.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I wouldn't say that Thor 2 sucked, but I would say that it was...sort of meh. I mean, I liked it. But it squandered a bunch of potential. The Warriors Three and Sif make, like, two seconds of appearances and Malekith, who is this great villain in the comics, is just a generic bad guy. And they wasted Christopher Eccleston in the role!

It had a great ending fight and some decent gags. And Loki is stellar, as always. That's about it.
I think it sort of suffered from having been recut later on to add more Loki scenes. Or perhaps that saved the movie, I don't know.
In any case, what I'm hearing about Thor: Ragnarok makes it sound much more exciting: from the fact that it might have Valkyrie to it actually having Bruce Banner, it all sounds different from the past two Thor films, which is a good thing.
