Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

There's a bit in The First Avenger where Schmidt shoots a man and gets blood on his HYDRA badge. So that suggests the skull on it is to reflect himself, the Red Skull of course. Sometimes the insignia itself is red, increasing the connection. As for the tentacles, well, as much as the Red Skull went on about "cut off one head two more grow back", he clearly meant it as "everyone of you is expendable except for me". They're not HYDRA's heads, he's the head and they're his arms.

Yeah but is taking the symbol and put outside down, the idea of "cuting one head and other will grow" is that not matter if you destroy them, they will grow again and again and again, HYDRA can have a lot of leader but they organization will endure them all until the objective is complete.
The one you speak is the oposite: one guy rulling all with their hand everyone, more of "new world order"
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not""Cut off one head and two more take its place," is bullshit rhetoric meant to inspire the grunts so they're more willing to die for the Skull's cause. That's not uncommon for recruitment tactics. He never meant it to apply to himself, he just wanted a cool way to phrase We Have Reserves so his men will eagerly throw their lives away in service to his cause.
Schmidt was a Nazi scientist who plotted to conquer Berlin and assassinated Hitler's envoys. It should not be surprising that he paid lip service to principles he had no intention of upholding for as long as those principles were useful to him.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
Perhaps.
Either way, Zola managed to turn it into something more intimidating, I think. "Hydra will always come back", or something along those lines. They have proved pretty resilient.
Oh God! Natural light!Sorry to interrupt, but I just had to post this pic, because it's just so adorable.
Why is Wolverine poised to begin having sex with Iron Man?

I would watch the crap out of a miniseries about Captain and Bucky being roommates and just go around exploring 21st century, getting into shenanigans and other dohickeys.
Yay.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing.I missed this because I had so many questions about Wolverine interrupting an MCU gag to sex up Iron Man.

That's true. As is also often the case with extremist groups, the ideology has outlived the person who manufactured it. There was a joke in Dogbert's big book of business about how etiquette is a practical joke played by a group of French people a long time ago, who tragically died before they could reveal the joke and so the concept of etiquette just kept being passed around as though it was supposed to be a real thing.
That's Hydra. The Red Skull undoubtedly did not intended the rhetoric to apply to himself. He planned to lead Hydra to domination. But he's dead and the hypocrisy died with him; his successors rose to power on the rhetoric, internalized it, and kept passing it down through future generations of Hydra.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Okay...I have gone from "Mmm...Jessica Jones might be good" to being really hyped. Those trailers are awesome. The time in the beginning, the purple tint (So, if Daredevil's signature colour is red and hers purple, which colours will Luke Cage and Iron Fist have?), the tone....If the whole show is like the trailers I might end up liking it more than Daredevil.
That logo still bugs the fuck out of me. We get it! You can do Photoshop! You know how to add texture! What you don't know, apparently, is how to pick an interesting font or color scheme.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

I only watched the first season of Ao S, so I never saw Ward emote. And then by the time Until Dawn came out, I had almost completely forgotten the show.
My various fanfics.
