Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Eh, Hawkeye became an Avenger at the same time the Twins did.
Hawkeye and Widow were there because they're super-easy to set up. No origin story required. That makes them easy choices for fleshing out the team's ranks so it's not just the Big Three plus Hulk, especially since Ant-Man didn't make it to the party.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.So was Quicksilver. You'd be surprised how many people were secretly involved in the Battle of New York. And that's not getting into how many Skrulls were in the crowd shots....

"To us, you're the alien!"

"But this is my planet! You are from a different planet! That makes you aliens!"
My various fanfics.I like the idea that Skrulls started infiltrating humanity generations ago, (somehow) having families with humans and teaching their kids to keep shapeshifting into human form because now isn't the time to drop The Masquerade and claim the planet.
But then somewhere along the line humanity died out, and all that's left are Skrull or part-Skrulls who keep up the act because they're unaware that there's no longer any need to.
Except Daredevil.
Then we find out the space dragon is really just a British actor with a drug habit.

Triple F is more an Iron Man foe. It wouldn't feel right for him to break up with Tony for Stephen.

What are you talking about? Black Widow is placed in danger every time she sets foot on a warzone.
No, she isn't. She very clearly is not in any danger in the battle sequences - just like Cap is never in any danger. She's not going to get randomly shot by a mook (well, Joss Whedon might...no, even he wouldn't). But being confronted or captured by the Big Bad is placing her in actual danger, just like when Hawkeye was placed in danger by Ultron, too.
