Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

That's...really unlikely. If that's the case it'd mean she's either not getting paid for the Captain America or Iron Man movies or had no obligation but did them out of the goodness of her heart.
And since she's currently one of the highest paid women in Hollywood I sincerely doubt either of those occurred.
The hardest thing about the Masters of Evil is that name.
Like, you could do a villainous team-up of surviving MCU villains, but if they don't resemble any actual permutation of the Masters of Evil, then the only thing that would identify them as the Masters of Evil is if they call themselves the Masters of Evil.
And I have a hard time seeing even the Red Skull unironically looking at his people and going, "Yes, we are the Masters of EVIL and we will DESTROY THE WORLD with our WICKED EVIL WAYS!" Even actual Hitler thought of himself as the good guy.
So if you can't use the lineup because it defeats the purpose of using returning villains and not a bunch of new guys and you can't use the name because it's stupid as hell, in what way is it possible to portray the Masters of Evil?

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.You could just have the Avengers jokingly name their opponents "the Masters of Evil." Sure, no one ever thinks of themself as evil, but they accuse other people of being evil all the time.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.![]()
Just have them call themselves The Masters, if they even use that name at all (like how the Brotherhood in the X-Men movies or in the modern comics isn't referred to as The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants).
I had the idea that they wouldn't use the name proper to refer to themselves at all, but when recruited (in a kind of anti-Nick Fury scene in each movie, which naturally didn't happen) there would be a play on the word "master" in their somewhere.
A very simple way to use it in the plot would be something like:
- Avenger: "Who are all of you?"
- Zemo or whoever's leading them: "We... are your masters!" (cue curbstomb)

"You have reigned supreme too long, Avengers. Now we are your masters!"
Tony: "Only a master of evil, Darth!" -looks around- "Really, nobody else was champing to make that reference?"
- CAP: That was a reference to Star Trek, right? I think I'm getting this.
- THOR: What's a Star Trek?

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.And then Starlord echoes Steve's moment in The Avengers by pointing at Tony and syaing "I got that reference!"
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Of course they're not going to outright call themselves "Masters of Evil" any more than anyone will call Cap "the star-spangled Avenger". I can see instead a subtle play on the title used in a line.
Ultron: "Here we all are. No longer mere products of science experiments, but masters of the future to come. And if the unevolved masses consider that future "evil", then they can cling to the dying carcass of the old world for all we care."
...Or something like thar
Okay, but the Masters of Evil should NOT be in the same movie as Ultron. That's just making things WAY too convoluted.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Marvel has in the past tweaked character names in order to make them more sensible on screen. Less then a week ago they revealed that Cornell Cottonmouth will be brought into the MCU as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes.
The Masters of Evil will almost certainly never call themselves that, at least not directly. But I could see them being referred to that by the Avengers or even just the media.

I think if we took out Ultron's Iron Legion and kept the Masters of Evil mostly to characters who either already exist in the MCU or have a backstory tied in with things that already exist in the MCU (such as Baron Zemo). The movie would be workable, it would have almost no resemblance to what we got, but it would be workable.

Wait so they changed Cottenmouth's last name but not Killgrave's? That's some weird priorities right there.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

starlord is half Eternal i bet
