Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I understand the apprehension of the concept, though. In the end it depends on how Marvel will handle the matter. To be honest, though, I think they will hold off pairing Steve with anyone. The thing is that he shared this kiss with Peggy and then suddenly wakes up in the future. For him the second world war and everything he experienced during it is barely over. During The Avengers he is basically still grieving, and in The Winter Soldier, just as it seems as if his life is back on track, his new world is falling apart again. Remember at this point Natasha is still busy convincing him that he should go on dates again. And if we assume that Peggy is dying now (she is positively ancient after all), I honestly can't see him jumping into a serious relationship just yet.
Just for reference Peggy was originally Sharon's older sister.
They changed it to aunt as the time frame moved further from WWII. Of course I think even being her aunt is pushing it. Saying Peggy's her great-aunt or grandmother would probably make the most sense now.
edit: I will admit that the older sister angle is a little bit creepy. The other potential relationships lack that aspect in my opinion.

Tony built him to be a suit of armor around the Earth, protecting it from all threats foreign and domestic. It was a rocky road with Ultron, but Vision is the affirmation of everything Tony was trying to accomplish. On top of that,
Vision: I am on the side of life.
If Tony's side is meant to be a response to collateral damage caused by the Avengers, there's no reason he wouldn't jump onboard an oversight committee intended to minimize needless casualties.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I could see Fury going either way.
- Pro-Reg: Seriously, I never wanted to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. anyway and have been secretly rebuilding it. Just because we've had difficulties with the chain of command in the past doesn't mean that having a chain of command is a bad idea. We never should have thrown the baby out with the bathwater.
- Anti-Reg: The Avengers Initiative was my baby to begin with. S.H.I.E.L.D. may be gone sort of but we've replaced it with something better, something that served us well during the Ultron crisis. Seriously, did you guys see how many lives we saved?
One thing I love about Civil War: It's not actually hard to write any given character as being on either side of the issue.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Fury had always a very low opinion of meddling politicians, though. I think while he wouldn't be against some sort of control, he would always want that the control comes from people in the field.
As long as I don't know how the registration act exactly looks like, I have no idea which side I would pick, no matter guessing what anyone else would choose.
Given Fury's role in the MCU at the moment, I bet he won't be invested all that much in the issue at all and will be primarily focused on dealing with whatever Zemo's up to - maybe even delivering a What the Hell, Hero? if the conflict distracts our heroes too much.
I think Nick had a role like that in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance version of Civil War too, at least before the whole nanite issue.
Do you know what I noticed about Thunderbolt? He wasted his life trying to be the new Chester Phillips, recreating the original superhuman formula. He ended up with two abominations instead. Now here is Cap in the flesh. The objective of his goal. For the first time he gets to see it perfected.

Why is Vision on anyone's side? Why does Poshtor Manhattan give a shit about sides?
My various fanfics.
