Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

But Vision is not really supposed to be a human.
Adding to the GOTG 2 and fathers thing, technically Drax is/was a father, which heightens the chance of seeing Moondragon show up in some form.
Ronan murdered Drax's daughter while Drax watched. Their justification for how she could have survived without Drax knowing and without coming across as a bullshit excuse of an Ass Pull would be interesting to see.
Also, re: Captain Marvel, I'd be interested to see why Carol will choose Captain for her name, as I seem to recall she is actually several ranks above Captain.
If they do use Mar-vell she could be inspired by him.
Or she could be inspired by Steven.
Edit: Actually, it was tongue in cheek but it was funny that one of the reasons Captain America urged her to take the name Captain Marvel is because he didn't want her outranking him.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell, they could always have her be a fan of the other Captain Marvel.
Carol's first outing as a superhero causes a shitload of property damage due to her inexperience with her new powerset. On the Avengers this would be Easily Forgiven. But in the military which she's still technically a part of and where accountability and discipline is a much bigger deal, that earns her a demotion to "Captain".

@Eagal,
Frankly, they don't even need to do that. Did Drax ever mentioned he had just one daughter? I wouldn't put past him to abandon the other one in his mad quest for revenge.
That could be their whole subplot, Moondragon resenting being left behind.
As for Captain Marvel. Maybe they will just demote her in the movie. Her comic rank was ridiculously high for her age, if I remember correctly.

-eye twitch- Given that I can respond to you quite pleasantly (you know, instead of screeching and hooting like a rabid macaque), I don't think Fox needs to be locked in a basement....Just sayin'. -grumble-
That being said, has Fox talked to Singer about doing a FF film? May as well hand it to their ace if they plan on keeping the rights.
Marvel can be tight-lipped from time to time about certain elements of their upcoming MCU projects.

* "Also, re: Captain Marvel, I'd be interested to see why Carol will choose Captain for her name, as I seem to recall she is actually several ranks above Captain."
Carol's alias is really Ms. Marvel. She only took on Captain Marvel in 2012 to honor the original Mar-Vell. It is a title passed down. There were many Captain Marvels before her, not all female.
However, Carol was also a security captain for the NASA when they were dealing with Kree. Her air force rank was Colonel.
hnmmm......... the general Captain Marvel story is so convoluted and big i have no idea how they are going to translate it. At most there is Mar-Vell coming to Earth because INPUT REASON and then something like SHIELD gets involved alongside Carol, who becomes the new Captain Marvel/Ms Marvel.
I know GOG 2 comes before CM, so the Kree have a greater chance of being back finally on the sliver screen unless agents of SHIE Ld builds up to it somehow.
I say she should have been introduced in Thor 2 when those jets were lunched

Decent folk don't keep their autistic relatives locked up in basements. Frankly not the best metaphor, and I don't even know why you needed to bring the word "autistic" into it at all. Also Fox isn't even that bad. Fant4stic was a stinker, and probably an extreme outlier, but otherwise they seem to be doing rather well between the X-Men metaseries, Kingsman, and the upcoming Deadpool film. It's arguable whether Marvel could do a better job with all of these properties, but as a custodian of non-FF properties Fox seems to have learned a little compared to the days of Elektra.
As for Captain Marvel's name, she might just be Carol to Earthlings, and the Captain part only comes in when she's in space talking to aliens. Some Translation Convention may even be involved.

Naw. It's not outright hate speech or any intended assholery in general, so I don't want to go full SJW and say his post should be "silenced". Just giving him a nudging reminder that we "who come from beneath" aren't the nutters some think. Enlightenment, not censorship.
