Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

what would be the point?
we've been over this before, but really, the main problem for me isn't even the idea of the twist itself, but how they pulled it off in the movie and that killian isn't that great a villain.
apparently they revealed in some extraneous material that there is a "real" mandarin but i doubt they'll ever follow up on that.
When I do, I'll grow big enough to toss you into the sun.
Age Of Ultron rocks. end of story.
Just messing with you man. I may not agree with your opinion, but I fight to your the death to defend it.
And when you are destroyed, I'll honour your memory.
As for the Mandarin. I've said how much I hate Iron Man 3, which is ironic, because I actually think the Mandarin being a behind the scenes guy makes sense. I just.....
Oh god. That shit with Trevor. I think they went way too far with that. I don't even mind Killian being the real Mandarin, since they wanted to avoid all the Yellow Peril bullshit.
Ironically, enough, with the possible existence of K'un-l'un(sp) hinted via Dare Devil, they could have just said the Mandarin was from there. Though I still think the way Extremis was used worked as well.
In fact, most of my problem comes solely from how they revealed the Mandarin was fake.
'd, but pretty much what I was saying. Good idea, but that FUCKING EXECUTION!!!

One Strip! One Strip! There are, in action films, usually what are called second-unit directors, who pick up the boring shots (establishing shots, fight scenes, generally anything without the actors in) the director doesn't want to do or doesn't have time for. So yeah, there's more than one director, but they're generally in charge of grunt work and not necessarily the guy you want finalizing creative decisions.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.![]()
GOOD NEWS!
Rumlow is now a recurring too!
General Ross too

Forever liveblogging the Avengers
X6 Plus you get assistant directors, who help plan out large shots and pretty much just arrange extras in the background. Or at least that's how I've seen it work on TV filming

Yep, swearing rules here pretty much boil down to the good old "emphasise on a point is fine but abusive language even without naughty words is a no no".

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranFor a movie, there's generally a single Assistant Director and then they have their own assistants (2nd AD, 2nd 2nd AD- not a typo, 2nd 2nd). For television shows, it can vary by episode just as the crew can vary throughout episodes, but the AD always has their assistants (2nd AD handles basecamp and the Call Sheet, 2nd 2nd handles controlling extras, locking down the main set, helping on the main set, echoing orders, watching after cast, production reports).
I'm in film school.

Man. That's so weird.
I mean, I've been in plays and those generally only had the one director, and auditioned for commercials that were the same, but I assumed that was just because those are smaller-scale.
How does one person handle doing all that work for something as big as a film or even TV series? That's horrifying.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Interesting, I only actually remember the A Ds being around for the outside shoots (I only actually remember that because I corrected the third assistant director or where I was 5 seconds previously in the scene we were filming) as they were the big ones. The indoor stuff was either small or done at the studio and thus with different extras.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranSince we're expressing opinions on Redwing, I'll just say it: I would've preferred if they hadn't introduced him at all, robot or real bird. I just don't think it really adds anything. And it's definitely too late for Sam to start being able to talk to birds. I don't care if he did it in the comics; this the MCU, which is a separate continuity.
Here's what I did want for Sam:
Sam: I know somebody that might be able to help us. *pulls out phone*
Phone: Hello?
Sam: Hi, Uncle Luke... (as in Luke Cage. 'cause that'd be cool"
All black people are related to each other?!!!
And besides, Luke Cage is already going to be in Jessica Jones, plus his own show.

"Hey Luke, its your cousin. Your cousin Sam? Remember that sound you were looking for? Well, listen to this!"
"Cousin? Wait, is that the sound of you punching robots?"
Well, it's New York. You got, like, a 1 in 5 shot of getting superpowers at some point in your life. Statistically, some childhood friends are going to both get powers, and not all of them are going to immediately become archnemeses.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

Im not giving up on the Mandarin. I know the MCU is going to hit us with him when we least expect it. You'll see! And no, Toby Drake! He does not have to be a goddamn terrorist! One of his underlings may have ran a terrorist cell. That DOESN'T mean he is one! Christ!
