Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

While I'm not against Sam getting his powers from the Terrigen Fish, It wouldn't be a good idea to force the audience to watch an entire season of television just to get the story on how Sam could get his powers between films.
Basically, they shouldn't have to read a tie in comic to explain a plot-point in the main book.
What Very Melon said.
Sam getting his powers from the Terrigen Fish only works if they're willing to explain the Terrigen Fish in the film, so either they detract from the plot by spending time establishing the Terrigen Fish despite the Fish having nothing to do with the story being told here, or it has to happen in a film that's involved with the Terrigen Fish.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Age of Ultron skewed proper storytelling conventions in favor of being "fun," and that movie was a steaming pile of crap, so I'd really rather not have a repeat of that.
I don't see why a robot bird is any less "fun" than a regular bird, anyways. If anything, a robot bird seems cooler and fits Falcon's military motif better.

Okay, to be fair, my opinion of Age of Ultron was retroactively raised just by sheer comparison to Fant4stic. It's all relative.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Like I said, it's all relative. I'm not saying Age of Ultron is the worst superhero movie ever, but it fell well below my expectations of what makes a superhero movie "good." Heck, I liked Incredible Hulk and Thor 2 better because they were also fun movies, and at least they managed to tell simple, coherent stories that didn't devolve into trainwrecks.
Look, I've explained why I don't like Age of Ultron before in this thread, and I really don't feel like doing it over and over. That's just my opinion, and if it "offends" you that I don't like the movie you like, maybe try growing up a little.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.I mean, if it's robo-Redwing or nothing I'll gladly take it and it is probably too late to give him powers so ultimately this is fine. Just give the man more screentime this run round.
People are entitled to their own opinions on film quality. I still enjoyed watching, say, Incredible Hulk and Fant4stic but I don't consider them good movies.

I'm also very butthurt that we're apparently never getting an Age of Ultron Director's Cut. The movie could really use, like, an extra half hour.

Saying "weird shit happens in comics" doesn't mean that they never explain the weird shit. And the filmmakers would rather spend two seconds of screen time on "here is a robot bird that Tony made" compared to the several minutes of "here is why a character suddenly has new superpowers."
