Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Man, the comments section on the comicbookmovies.com article is fucking embarrassing.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectCap's suit usually ends up looking fine even in set photos, but there are different needs depending on what the stunt guy needs to do. Some of these will probably be long shots.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectPeople saying that their first impression of the suit is bad are allowed to have that reaction, but let's not forget that surreptitious and slightly blurry behind the scenes phone camera shots are not the first impression that most movie studios want people to have because everything is still a work in progress.
People put too much stock in them.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectMain reason I don't log on to the site as frequently as I used. Started out great for being a go to news site on the latest updates on media adaptions of comic books. Turned into one massive clusterfuck of flame wars over easily ignore shit (most of said flame wars are started by people complaining about fanboys complaining in a piss poor attempt at preventing such war). Seriously, the elitism in the comment sections are the worse. It makes the You Tube comments slightly better by comparision (I guess mostly because I at least get a cool video to watch/listen as I dwell into said stupidity).
Any way, on the Black Panther's costume, clearly not bad. Chances are they are going to edit it to make it appear slimer and awesome looking. We all remember Ultron's set photos where the only thing resembling him is some cheap look chrome face and upper torso.
Well, that and the suits are designed for different purposes.
I'm hoping for some footage from D23, but I'm not expecting it. It's way early.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectAnd of course I look at that shot and all I can think is "Jesus, don't any of those people see the weirdo in the suit!?".
So, Bucky's paling around with the Black Panther, huh? Maybe that's how he ended up with his arm in a vice? Maybe the two of them were, say, taking out a HYDRA base (those assholes are like cockroaches), at some point had a... disagreement that ended up with Bucky's arm trapped in a vice. Before Panther can finish things, he hears Cap and Falcon making their way in, and wants nothing to do with that mess and takes off. Leading to the Ant Man stinger I tried to post spoilers about, just for courtesy's sake (I doubt anyone reading this doesn't know already, but still).
Or maybe I'm full of it. I guess we'll find out next year
.
An incredibly fake sounding summary of the "teaser"
. The horrid one-liners are what get me.
It would be tremendously hard to make him a respectable character. They shot themselves in the foot with the Ten Rings in Iron Man 1.
Any version of the Mandarin that involves being a tinpot warlord leading a terrorist group in the asscrack of the Middle East is automatically a step down for the character no matter how you play it. When the character's greatest ambition is to get his hands on some American weapons so he can own a patch of desert, he's not really epic archnemesis material.
You could play it as though he's not really that invested in the conflict in the Middle East and is instead using it to advance some other scheme or plot, but they already did that in Iron Man 3. If they want the All Hail the King twist to mean anything, now they have to play the terrorist group seriously and that's automatically going to produce a shittier villain.
Or they can ignore that short forever and let "The True Mandarin" join the Leader in the F*ck No pile, where aborted plot threads go to die.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Apparently in an MCU tie-in comic, Black Widow shot the leader in the legbenders for trying to mind control her.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

We really have to learn that the set pics never fully get across how costumes will look on film.
