Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.

  • This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
  • While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
  • Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Since Thor and now Captain America came out this year, I wanted to get what Tropers thought of the concept and execution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. Personally I love the idea and wonder why this idea hasn't been seriously tried before. It sorta seems to me like the DCAU in movie form (And well, ummm, with Marvel), and really 'gets' the comic book feel of a shared universe while not being completely alienating.

Peggy Cater's arch nemsis is the pre Black Widow and she gets to go into Dr. Strange's territory (darkforce), so the adventures are worth it! it helps she isnt boring

Buffy doesn't count. Her death never stuck.

I'm kinda stuck in Stone Ocean. Also, I think Quicksilver will find a way to come back from the dead.

There's this photoset from the end of the first season of Agents of SHIELD where Coulson argues with Fury that the supah special alien resurrection blood should have been saved for an Avenger

I'm tempted to reblog it with a picture of bullet riddled Quicksilver

(because I'm a bad person)

Oh, yeah, the GH formula is basically Kree blood.

So does that mean that Kree blood can bring people back to life?

Because of Coulson though

So wait. When Thanos threatened to "bathe the starways in [Ronan's] blood," does that mean he was going to go on a mass revival spree?

He and Death must have been going through a rough patch.

[up][up][up][up][up] I swear if Marvel decided to revive Pietro to serve as a recurring character in Agents of SHIELD, I'll call rip-off on the show for captilizing on the success that is The Flash.tongue

[up][up]No, see, it was a brilliant plan.

If he brings everyone back to life, then HE CAN KILL THEM ALL AGAIN.

Death would have to allow it though. I think by the time Infinity War starts he is going to burst into each location that resisted Death and go god mode broke there until he has all the infinity stones. idk well theres not enough time for that so...

The Kree blood was just one component in that massive procedure though - they had to do a lot more to Coulson to bring him back. The blood alone might help a bit but won't revive on its own.

[up][up] that Black Panther costume looks........eh?

Really though, what's the BP costume supposed to be made of? Some kind of fabric or something? Part of me wants to think it's kinda like armor, but I'm most likely wrong there...

Black Panther's armor is generally made from fabric weaved with vibranium. So it's pretty much indestructible, yet lightweight. (Also bulletproof.)

[up][up], [up] Damn, Wakanda knows how to use its Vibranium, eh?

But yeah, the BP costume there looks pretty...underwhelming. sad

Maybe it'll be semi-CG to make it look not sucky?

We don't know how it looks on film yet. These types of photos are usually...not good.

You can barely see it in this photo anyway.

Maybe I just have an overactive imagination, but I think it looks awesome.

Of course, maybe I'm also just really excited to see the Panther in film.

Are those claws retractable? Cause they seem like they would get in the way of stuff that doesn't involve fighting. Like going to the bathroom for one. tongue

Can the Pink Panther also be in Black Panther?

Maybe BP will lure a group of Avengers (say, four of them) to Wakanda just to test his suit and gear out on them.
