Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

do you guys think they might give a more concrete definition of what the act actually is?
i think in order for the film to work both tony and steve need to have understandable reasons for thinking the way they do that make sense as to who they are and what they've experienced, i.e there needs to be a complex question without easy answers.
In order for the film to work or make sense they would have to make it concrete what the act is about. Hell, it should be what the film is about as a whole. Something tells me Marvel Studios isn't stupid enough enough to pull off the stupidity that was the comics Civil War.
These movies have their flaws, but at least most of them try to have a modicum of sense and consistency that a general audience can understand.
The Blog The Arti'm pretty sure this will be better than civil war.
some of the films have been better than others, but even the films which i don't like that much (thor, incredible hulk, avengers) i consider mediocre and underwhelming rather than outright bad. plus this is being made by the same people that worked on winter soldier, so i'm sure this will be an at least decent movie.

Interesting line-up... well, now I really don't know who to root for. Both teams have some of my favourite characters on their side.
"... there are die-hard Civil Wars fans?"
Yes, actually. I wouldn't call myself a die-hard fan, but personally I did like the original event and thought it wasn't that bad. Though I still blame it for starting an annoying thread of heroes fighting each others instead of bad guys.
Maybe made it worse but that's always been Marvel's thing.
Namor vs Human Torch (robo version)
Avengers/Defenders War
Having Kang build a Spider-Man robot just so we could have Spider-Man fighting the Avengers.

Sorry, I meant heroes fighting each others in group for AN ENTIRE FRIGGIN' STORY ARC. What you're describing were more cases of Let's You and Him Fight, right?
Which honestly wasn't all that great of an idea either, as they tended to happen more due to potential '$$$' signs rather than actual common sense. Say what you will about most of DC's Silver Age & early Bronze Age output, but at least they usually didn't have their heroes fighting each other for no good reason.

Loki tricked them into fighting each other after tricking the Defenders into collecting the Evil Eye for DREAD DORMAMU.

And Iron Man and Thor discovered each others' secret identities before them having SID's was no longer a thing. Just felt I should point that out.

"Loki tricked them into fighting each other after tricking the Defenders into collecting the Evil Eye for DREAD DORMAMU."
Then I assume the arc ended with the two groups realizing they had been tricked and teaming up to defeat Loki. Which is a more appreciable ending than the likes of AvX.

1) Take those "spoilers" with a huge grain of salt.
2) Take those "spoilers" with a massive grain of salt.
3) Just...don't believe those "spoilers."
Listen: before The Winter Soldier came out, I found myself reading about the music soundtrack list for the movie, which apparently gave away some huge spoilers. Like how Alexander Pierce was actually the Red Skull! And how Iron Man would receive a distress signal from Peter Quill in the stinger!
So yeah. Don't believe those spoilers at all until you are sitting in the theater and watching the actual movie.
@Allit:We just pretend that never happened. For the Professor's sake.
He ded.

The fight ended when the two sides stopped fighting for more than five seconds to actually communicate. But DREAD DORMAMU got the Evil Eye anyway, merged his realm with Earth, and got taken down by the Scarlet Witch in the end.
Loki ended up suffering amnesia and mentally regressed to a child and Thor pledged to care for him but instead dumped him off in the country at the first available opportunity.

Oh, so that's Conflic Ball basically^^' Yeah I do always find it annoying when you are left with the feeling the characters could solve the conflict by just talking like adults. At least World War Hulk had a good reason why Hulk couldn't be reasonned with. Though none of that crap would have happened to begin with had the Iluminati not thought launching him to space was a good idea...
Funny, I noticed the similarity too. Guess Thor learnt from the mistake.
It should be pointed out the source in question is Umberto Gonzalez, who's been outright wrong on several incidents, so I don't take it seriously to begin with. But he's been right in the past, and I think he was one of the first people to mention the Bruce/Natasha romance in AOU right when shooting started.
He's extremely hit or miss. He called that and also released the first official Civil War promo art, but at the same time, he was the one who for like two years kept telling everyone that Age of Ultron ended with Hulk being launched into space, which would then lead to Planet Hulk and World War Hulk movies.
