Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It looks legit, but even if it is, it's from 2014. They may have updated the look since then.
Never mind then.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectMan, that third one. Benedict Cumberbatch is: The Eightiesest Hobo.
What I want, more than anything, is for them to make different capes with a buncha different hooks on the collar, and swap them out depending on the shot so that the hooks are always distinctly visible. I love wonky perspective stuff like that in the comics and I think it'd look neatly disarming in live action.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Well, the director also directed Sinister
, so I have a feeling that he can do weird and freaky pretty well.
I'm hoping that the movie does something similar to what he wore in "The Oath"
. Not only does it look a bit more practical than his traditional costume (especially the pants), but it's still close enough to the classic to be immediately recognizable.
For what it's worth the Joblo leaks
(which were completely on the money with Ant-Man and what we know of Civil War so far) has this to say:
Yep, DOCTOR STRANGE will be wearing the traditional outfit from the comics, complete with the red cape (albeit with a much smaller collar) and blue outfit. He will also have a vest of some sort, but either way will be going for an MCU version of the classic costume, which should be a relief for those that feared Marvel may not adhere to the traditional look.

Calling Stephen "Sherlock".
It's funny because Sherlock is one of Cumberbatch's best known roles.

So! With the Fantastic Four hovering between 10 and 14% on RT, rated 4.3 on IM Db, a 29 on Metascore, and an 8 on Metacritic, how much do you wanna bet that Fox finally drops this hot potato back home?
"He could not know it. For it was not all a joke."@Alley: The collar is definitely getting toned down, even if that leak isn't true.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectAt this point Fox might try and beg for the kind of deal that Sony has with Spinderman. That or they try and convince Marvel to do them a trade for some characters for X-Men films.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranI had two thoughts on tying the Four into the MCU (although I like the suggestion of them being from the past and tied to Peggy and the Pyms).
One idea is to have them as colleges of Jane, Selvig and co. and have them use Tesseract technology to try to travel to another dimension and instead end up in an Eldritch Location.
Another thought- tie Latveria to Sarkovia and have Doom motivated in part by re-creating a homeland for his people (which he will rule absolutely, of course)

My personal theory for how to easily tie the 4 into the MCU easily is to have them have been around quietly for a few years before the MCU started, however just before everything started happening they left on a long bit of space exploration which they've now returned from.

"What? I said he was smart."
"....Yes you did, dear."
My various fanfics."Also, I apparently have Ultimate FF to blame for making Marvel Zombies a thing so I have that reason to genuinely hate it rather than just be indifferent."
I can sympathize with that. I apologize to Marvel Zombies fans since apparently some people do like this series, but personally I find it just needlessly dark and disgusting.
Also, yeah, upon hearing how Ultimate Mad Thinker is, it does sound kinda needlessly gritty.
Should Dr. Strange be a blend between the Marvel Adventure version, The Oath, and Englehart + Brunner's run? Basically the first one is All Star Superman, the second is Dr. Strange modernized, and third has stories that defined Dr. Strange as someone who really dabbles into the cosmic horror genre and do things that would normally be associated with Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, and Grant Morrison.

Actually, it does look like he has a goatee.
But I love the coat and the strategic placement of the Eye of Agamotto.
