Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'd be fine with a single FF film as a smaller more low-key entry in the MCU like Ant-Man. They just need to establish that the team exists and then they can occasionally reference them or have them guest star. The main benefit would be getting Galactus, Silver Surfer, Dr. Doom, Rama-Tut/Kang, and the Skrulls back.
I've heard that the MCU does have access to the skrulls but whedon didn't use them in avengers because he just needed generic aliens
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe thing is that even if the current movie bombs (and just because it gets bad reviews it doesn't mean that if won't at least make its money back...we will know more next week in this regard), I am not convinced that Fox will be ready to sell the rights back. They might want to sit on them either out of spite or fear that Marvel shows them off again like they did with Daredevil.
Or, maybe, just maybe... if it's profitable they'll want to keep making money, which they won't if they sell the rights back?
Nah, of course not. I just has to be some evil plot to screw over Marvel, it can never be about Fox being a corporation that likes not having to file for Chapter 11.
Geez, Fox doesn't know squat about what they're doing with the F4 characters.
The more I think about that dumb reboot, the more I realize how dumb the changes are.
- Not giving Thing some shorts? Really?!
- They totally could've used Annihilus as the Big Bad, but noooooo, they have to use Dr. Doom! Just because!
Sorry guys, my family came up with this dumb plan to not eat after 7 pm in an effort to lose weight and it's really driving me nuts because as I'm typing this, I am deathly hungry. As a result, I am in a really bad mood.
>_<
The thing about Doom is that, on paper, he's amazing. But whenever someone tries to adapt him to film, he turns out to be anything from a disappointment to an abomination. He's a Bad Ass Scientist-Sorcerer and monarch of a small country with just a few scruples. How can you screw that up? (Did I need to ask?
)
Evidently, you can screw Doom up by doing what Fox did just now. Or what they did back in 2007. Or 2 years before that.
I just want to see GOTG vol. 3 be about the Guardians teaming up with Galactus and the Silver Surfer to stop Annihilus and his Annihilation Wave. Is that so wrong? Admit it, you guys want to see that as much as I do.

What we need is a Fantastic Four movie that will lean into the big goofy cosmic bullshit the comic itself tends to be good at.
I think reverting to Marvel Studios would be good for the property on those grounds and those grounds alone.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I really want to spread #UnfantasticFour when talking about the new movie in the hopes that it'll spread across the rest of the Internet and it gets so annoying that Fox just hands over the rights to Marvel just to get us to shut up.
...If only that was a plausible move.
Actually I think you're not quite alone on that regard. In all honesty, I think I'm more interested in the cosmic characters that are associated with the F4 than the actual 4, now that I think about it. In fact, I think even Marvel is more interested with the cosmic characters themselves.

Why else would twenty versions of this same old man exist all over the MCU and the other various marvel properties/
My various fanfics.

I think they always planned to make another F4 movie, but it got stuck in Development Hell; the rights deadline was just the shot in the arm they needed to finally get it made.
