Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

@The Taskmaster movie article.
That's is pretty vague - even considering that the article was released five years ago about an event that happened "a few years ago" by its own standards, it's not about Fox releasing a Taskmaster movie, it's about a director who typically works with Fox that wanted to make a Taskmaster movie a long time ago. Very little is actually said about how far the project went or even what it was.
Remember that it was just when the Marvel Cinematic Universe was starting to spread out - Captain America 1 wasn't even out yet, and people weren't really cracking down or focusing on where everybody was rights-wise. That was more of a "at one point the director of A-Team wanted to make a Taskmaster movie, isn't that interesting" article.

Yeah "I want to make that movie" isn't really conclusive. I remember the director of the two Chris Evans Fantastic Four movies saying he wanted to introduce Black Panther and She-Hulk in future sequels, even though it later turned out Fox doesn't have the rights to either of those characters.
The Molly thing really depends on whether the Fox/Marvel rights split specifies X-Men characters or mutants in general. I'm inclined to think it's the former just because there are obviously non-mutant properties related to the X-Men (Moira Mactaggert and William Stryker) who have played big parts in the movies. Molly has no connection to the X-Men so she should be fine.
Taskmaster's more of a persistent Heavy anyway - he himself rarely has major villainous aspirations, but as the main agent for the Big Bad's organization he is a major draw of attention. At least, that's how he would be optimally written - it's the same basic role Darth Vader had.
It depends on the role. If taken at face value, I don't think Venom could carry a movie either. Given the right writer, with the right characterization and adequate set-up in other moves to make his story work, however? Sure.
I do think Taskmaster's strengths would be perfect for something like Agents Of SHIELD, though, since he could be a running threat for an entire season, while is True Neutral tendencies would foil better with someone like Coulson or May than they would for someone whose view is more straightforward like Cap's.
Were you referring to me and just spelled my name wrong?
I mean, I do want to see a good Spider-Man movie, so maybe you are talking about me, I don't know. What can I say? I'm a huge Spider-Man fan.

Just a case of Names The Same. I think Diamondback was even around before the much better known Stryker.
His alias is Diamondback but his real name is Willis Stryker and him along with the other two formed a gang that Luke Cage was once apart of. The Harlem Rivals.

Mutants do not exist in the MCU. Inhumans do. Everyone born on Earth with an active X-Gene will automatically become a mutant. X-Genes are just a mutation in human DNA because thats what the story says though in Earth X series Celetsrials had a hand in it. meanwhile, Kree act as Ancient Aliens who experimented on cave men, therefore we have hybrids called Inhuamns. They can only transform if undergo terrigenesis. Unlike Mutants, Inhumans are all about their own culture govemrent and society that exist separate from the rest of humanity. In that sense they are different from Mutants.
Then there are Mutautes, anyone who gained powers from a source that was never implanted in them before birth, for example Spider Man or Hulk.

Well, I think it'd be a shame if they gave up on Spider-Man movies when we haven't gotten one that's quite "right" yet.
Besides, you can't say superhero movies haven't already seen a huge increase in variety since the Tobey Maguire days. They can make Spider-Man movies while still giving movies to other superheroes who haven't had the spotlight yet.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.
