Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I know that romantic subplots are very prominent in Superhero movies. And yes, at one point Peter needs to have a romance, preferable before he meets Mary Jane. It just wouldn't be realistic for him to find the love of his life in the very first person he meets. But do we really need to see a romance in his very first movie, when he is still a teenager and presumably barely out of the phase when girls are icky? And do we really need a love-triangle? I don't think that we do. I think the best approach would be to let Peter grow up, date one or two love interests, perhaps both as Peter and as Spiderman, and then hook him up with Mary Jane for good.
They also should avoid the damsel in distress trope for a while. The only movie so far in which they didn't use it was The Amazing Spider-man, and the movie was so much better for it.
It'd be interesting if his love interest in the movie was Betty Brant, and the end of the movie has them not working out - maybe even doing a play on the thing with Bennett (though that's not why they ultimately broke up).
Though that's probably impossible.

Yeah, Betty Brant can be a love interest for Peter in the first movie. Maybe their relationship can be based on the one from the show Spectacular Spider-Man where it is a one-sided crush on Peter's part.
The one thing that I found missing found in the romance subplot in the Amazing Spider-Man movies is the subversion of it since Marc Webb did got his start from creating a movie that subverts the romance comedy formula pretty well.
x10 LOL! Does this make AIM Hydra in that sequel. Cause I am pretty sure Antony is under AIM's control.

XDDD Well to be fair considering we are talking about the guy who went all evil genius and tried to get revenge because Tony skipped a meeting once (which by the way didn't even prevent him from getting rich anyway), I don't think it would be that out of character from Killian to do this kind of stupidity :p
In the comics they do.
In the movies it would just be a kind of fan in-joke.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersKillian: To bee or not to bee....you don't get a choice!

Actually, that could work out a lot better story wise. Cross is working on a business partnership with a rebuilt AIM whose involvement with Cross includes research on the Pym particles. Said rebuilt company actually now work as a science subdivision for Hydra. So AIM became a science subdivision for a science subdivision of the Nazi Party.
Cue Nolan music!
Its also that AIM hasn't been seen much since Iron Man 3 while Hydra has been an ongoing thing
The most recent movie and the Agents of SHIELD show both used Hydra.
AIM would be like 'remember these guys'?
'Didn't they shoot fire?'
'No that was just Extremis soldiers.'
'Okay so its just a bunch of scientists?'
'Yes.'
'meh.'
Although, you can get some mileage out of other tech companies scrambling to hire/hide AIM scientists in a sort of operation paperclip in miniature with fewer nazis.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersTom Holland already filmed his Civil War appearance
and the rumored Spider-Man reboot cast list has been debunked.
Companies have ontological inertia.
A.I.M. was a business, not a secret society. They're probably going to be heavily investigated in the aftermath of Iron Man 3, but the death of their founder doesn't guarantee the company's collapse.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Btw given how much prominence Leviathan had in Agent Carter, I was expecting those guys to show up in at least some capacity in Ant-Man. Wonder if Leviathan is still kicking about in the present day.
there is no more AIM unless noted otherwise. it was funded by the govemrent, so they have to investigate themselves? now its N/A. AIM up and running would seem to random without a proper justification. plus it wasnt even a defined corrpution. like who took over why and what they are now doing. before it was just a jump start program to build Maya's Extermist. that was its only goal unless noted otherwise. now i would like to see Justin Hammer return!!! idk i really dont see AIM returning unless someone like Hammer or Osborn picks it up. the best choice would be the govemrent taking AIM and using it during civil war somehow
