Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Besides, Hydra's infiltration is still in its infancy at the time of Agent Carter - there's nothing to find at the moment.
Oh God! Natural light!Well, the best choice for that would actually be Howard Stark.
It can be another reason Hydra kills him. Or it can be the main reason.
One Strip! One Strip!
So the co-writers of the new Vacation are the official writers of the next Spidey movie? Marvel must be pretty darn confident since, to the best of my knowledge, that movie still hasn't shown up yet.
Also, Ant-Man reigns supreme over Stupid Sandler's "Pixels".

They also wrote Horrible Bosses, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2, so it's not like they're unproven. Vacation is in the headlines since it's fresh on everyone's minds.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Um, do people even refer to Adam Sandler as "Stupid Sandler"? I kinda came up with it myself and I guess it sort of stuck thanks to Added Alliterative Appeal...
Are any of those good? I kinda haven't seen those myself...

Vacation isn't actually the first film they've co-written: they've also written Horrible Bosses, Horrible Bosses 2, and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. Now, I've never actually seen any of those movies (although I heard the Bosses movies were funny and the Incredible Burt Wonderstone...wasn't), but it seems like Marvel is trying to making the Spider-Man movie a bit more comedic, probably as a sort of teen comedy-drama.

Well, it kinda makes sense since Spider-Man has, to the best of my knowledge, always been among the more funner (is that even a word?) side of the Marvel Universe.
If they reveal how Spider-Man will appear in Civil War at D23, it'll be Tom Holland in the suit doing a sort-of replication of that part in "Civil War" (the comic event) when Spidey unmasked himself in public.

Glad to see Antman is so successful^^ I had huge expectations for his movie, and I am really happy it lived up to them
As for the Spider-Man reboot... I don't know, it's too soon to judge right now. I just hope they don't push the teen comedy angle too far, because I usually hate this kind of movie, what with all the clichés in it that doesn't match real life in anyway.
I've got Hype Fatigue to the MCU, but Spider Man is making me fatigued for comic book movies in general. I feel like some Jameson/Osborn hybrid, I want to get rid of Spider-Man that much. And, thanks to him, we have to wait longer to see characters I actually care about, like Black Panther and Captain Marvel.
Yeaaaaah, I disagree with you guys. I honestly want to see Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and as long as they actually do something new with him, I am fine with a new reboot. Plus, they pretty much confirmed they would skip his origin story this time; remember, he is apparently already active according to Antman, and he will be introduced in Civil War. Unless the new movie is a prequel, I think we're safe.
It's gonna be hard. Both Spidey movie series have to some extent covered all the most important beats.
What exactly is there that's left to do.

On the "Evil President" issue, we also have already had Alexander Pierce. MCU!Pierce is sort of a composite of Pierce in the comics, Aleksander Lukin, and "Dell Rusk", but the end result (especially with the casting of Robert Redford) is a character who covers that idea of "seemingly honorable politician who is actually HYDRA".
Also, due to the reveal in Winter Soldier, I'd think that Peggy can't be allowed to find out that there are HYDRA infiltrators, even if the audience is clued in.
