Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

From the moment Hank mentioned that the Quantum Realm was "beyond space and time," it was pretty much clinched that Janet is still alive, stuck in the Quantum Realm all this time - the realm being beyond time solving the whole "decades without eating or drinking" issue.
Of course, that would mean that Janet is trapped eternally shrinking away in an incomprehensible realm that files away your very sense of awareness, and has been for years, but I'm sure she'll be fine... ish. After all, what's the Marvel universe without characters being trapped in hellish, inescapable situations for years at a time, being rescued and then going back to heroing within the year.

If Scott couldn't remember his time in the Quantum Realm, presumably Janet won't either once she's saved.
The main issue would probably be that she should still be young (though I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel doesn't do so), while her daughter is all grown up and is recovering from extreme bitterness, and her husband has turned into an obsessed hermit without her.

Ah, dammit, they totally did it this way so they wouldn't have to cast a middle-aged woman as her later, didn't they.
Fucking Hollywood.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.That's... what?
Michael Douglas has suggested that Catherine Zeta Jones be cast as Janet. I could see it.
Anywho, I figure this could be one of the ways that the Time Gem plays into future stories.
Makes sense.
Nothing on my previous post?
Sorry to suck in the conversation like a black hole, but I figure I gotta prove him wrong, or accept he may be on to something.
It's possible that Fury may suspect that there's some sort of infinitely powerful (see what I did there?) artifact or doodad out there, considering that the Tesseract was one such artifact or doodad, but I don't think he knows that they're specifically the Infinity Gems, no. Even a Bad Ass Samuel L.Jackson character has his limits, and Fury's is that, for all of his intel, he's never really been out into space. (In this continuity, anyway...) When you're stuck on Earth, you only know so much.

Yeah. That's what I said.
I do admit, that he might be smart enough to consider there's more out there than just the Tesseract. He was smart enough to cotton on to Loki not being an actual representative of Asgard.
But yeah, it's hard to know what's going on in space when you ain't from space.
One Strip! One Strip! In all seriousness, Truman isn't really the best man for the "Evil President" shtick. Nixon rose to prominence during the Red Scare, though, so that's worth considering.
Although as a longtime U.S. President trivia nerd, having a "The Buck Stops Here" one-liner would probably sell the idea to me on that alone.

Oh God! Natural light! You could make Truman the Red Herring, and make the actual supervillain president turn out to be FDR, who faked his death to operate from the shadows, and is using Truman as his puppet.
I think making any historical president an outright villain is going to be problematic. Especially someone like FDR who, while he certainly has his detractors, is generally remembered fondly given that he lead the country out of the Great Depression and through a majority of WW 2.
My suggestion would be to make Truman a red herring, and have the real leader of the Secret Empire be someone who has the President's ear but is much more directly connected to Peggy. Specifically the director of the SSR.
Bringing down the Secret Empire could then also cause the SSR to be disbanded in favor of SHIELD.
Before I clicked that link, I thought you were referring to the Enchantress.
@ "Marvel Fatigue": yeah, no. I ain't feeling it. In fact, to this day, i still haven't watched season 2 of Agents of SHIELD. (Only because I got my sister into the show (even though I got into it way before her and she's balancing watching that and The X-Files on Netflix. Don't worry though, she's already past the part where we find out that Ward was in cahoots with HYDRA) and I kinda don't want her to see season 2 without finishing up season 1.)
...Though in hindsight, that may be a really silly reason not to see season 2 at this point.

Regarding evil presidential types, considering the Veep from Iron Man 3 there's an argument to be made (ideally by someone who isn't lazy like me
) that it would be a "been there, done that" kind of thing.

All your safe space are belong to Trump@Handsome Rob: I had seen that theory before, but I don't remember any argument to support it. Fury knows a lot isn't enough, I think. Uh... the rest of the train of thought I had for this post crashed and now I've lost it ._. Oh, well...
Yeah, same here. Unless, of course, they adopted Original Sin— {Is shot.}

Janet saved Quicksilver from the worst of his injuries and took him to recover....somewhere in secret. For now, let's say it was Wakanda.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?
