Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Speaking of Spidey, there's been some word about mysterious pictures on Twitter that may or may not be some hints towards what Spidey's suit will look like
.
Actually, I don't know if anyone knew about this already, but the D23 expo will talk about a lot of Disney stuff, including Captain America: Civil War.
Methinks we'll finally see what Spider-Man will look like then?

I still remember watching the scene where Captain Stacy died in ASM and one of the first thoughts in my head was "Oh shit, we're gonna kill Gwen off in the next one, aren't we? Kinda rushing this a bit."
In a way, it's good that we have a cinematic version of The Night Gwen Stacy Died. There shouldn't be any problems with jumping straight to Spider Gwen then.

So, having now actually seen Ant-Man, in theaters, rather than rolling with whatever spoilers came my way...
Am I the only one who thinks the higher-ups are lying about Hope becoming the Wasp? Or at least, staying the Wasp? Between the scene of her controlling the ants, and the (to me) vaguely ominous music in the mid-credits scene, I could easily see her going crazy and becoming the Red Queen. With Janet possibly still alive (maybe even still young because Quantum gobbledegook) they could even still have a Wasp.
The theme came up in the Dawn of Justice threat: Good action scenes. Though, which are the best ones in the MCU? Excluding Ant-man (because, well, spoilers) the ones which stood out to me the most are:
Cap jumping over the explosion in CA 1
The Battle of New York
The Sky Jumping scene in Iron Man 3 (easily the best moment of the whole movie)
The battle through the realms in The Dark World
The Elevator Fight and the Battle on the Bridge in The Winter Soldier (Though all action scenes in this movie are awesome)
Every action scene in Got G, but especially the fight in the prison, on Knowwhere and the battle of Xandar
The battle for Sokovia

I thought the fight against the Ice Giants in Thor 1 was pretty enjoyable. The Dark World on the other hand should be some sort of anti-nomination as every single fight scene outside of Freya's was pure Narm.
yep it was WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL ASGARD IS. Really Thor: Dark World offered more settings than Thor and the director made these settings pretty lived in to a degree that overshadows Thor. During Thor, the tranisastion between New Mexico and Asgard didn't seem as impressive as what happened in its sequel. The latter really emphasis on the otherness of these realms, but also the mundane nature to the inhabits who live there. I wish that dinner scene table wasn't cut. Now I just wanna learn the history behind A, B, and C realm. But obviously not enough time for that...

"The Dark World" should have been set entirely elsewhere instead of forcefully tying it back to earth. Especially since that would have been a perfect explanation for the absence of the Avengers, and the opportunity to go creative with the CGI. They could have given us a glimpse on all the nine worlds.
I really hope Thor Ragnarok just cuts out Earth entirely and either writes out Thor's human friends or has them travel to Asgard. I'd just like at least one movie set entirely on Asgard before the trilogy's over (Assuming there won't be a Thor 4, which... there really doesn't need to be).
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Studios don't like needlessly throwing away money like that. The whole reason Thor 1 and 2 had so many Earth scenes is because it was much easier on the budget.
GOTG had a much easier justification since the comics take place almost exclusively in space, but for Thor, who spends a lot of time on Earth and has a human love interest, you're going to have a much harder time convincing Disney to cough up the change like that.
And even then GOTG had the excuse that their lead protagonist is a "reltable" human from Earth, so even if they didn't have it set on Earth they still had an Audience Surrogate.

I think what's more important than the movie as a whole taking place on Asgarde is for the movie's conflict to take place entirely on Asgarde.
So maybe there's a visit to Earth while things are still falling into place (and to get some of Thor's human friends to Asgarde) and maybe at the end of the movie depending on how things work out. But there should be minimal fighting on Earth this time around.

Friendship? Harry was using Max. That's all there was to it.
