Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The use of macro-photography has paid off. The water looks tremendous at this angle.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectTumblr eh? Hope they've prepared for all the Ineffectual Death Threats that will probably come their way.
Yeah, didn't people working on the movie also say Marvel just showed up one day, told them they were taking two actors and then went to the Gotg set and filmed the stinger before returning to Thor later all the while production was stopped since they kind of needed to have the actors working on the movie? Marvel really doesn't seem to believe in letting directors film movies how they want. Everything must be how 100% like the plan they've set up(aside from Spider-Man because that can make Marvel push movies back months).
Edit: Wait, didn't the IM 3 director have similar complaints or was that one of the other director's?

So...he complains that Marvel allowed him to do what he wanted and then changed the final product...and if I remember correctly, one of the main changes was more Loki...considering that the Loki scenes were the only good thing about the awfulness of The Dark World, well played Marvel. I get the feeling that they do allow the directors breathing space, but when they don't deliver something awesome, they step in and salvage whatever possible.

Considering adding more Loki at the cost of everything else seems to be what made the Dark World awful in the first place, bad Marvel, BAD!
You name it. Malekith had a lot of his character depth cut down to make room for Loki, world-building scenes, Odin had more scenes, and an entire character was removed from the film: Tyr, the god of justice, portrayed by Clive Russel (who plays Blackfish Tully in Game of Thrones) to make room for more Loki.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."

I've heard the same. The film comes out today in Hong Kong so we'll know sooner or later.
