Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

He beats the crap out of tons of people, but there are no confirmed kills on Daredevil's part in the first 3 episodes.. Lots and lots of concussions and broken bones, but no deaths. Could some of the people he beat up end up not pulling through? Sure, but that's just speculation.

Him not killing is a Big Thing later in the series. He fights brutally, but that's what the series is like. He doesn't get the luxury of knocking mooks out in one punch then winking at the camera like Captain America. In several fights, he lands hits that would've been game-enders in most series or movies, but the mooks get up and need more punishment to go down, because, again, realism. Nevertheless, I don't find it a stretch to believe that he didn't kill anyone.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Well, when I made my initial post I did believe that Daredevil had explicitly killed at least one or two people in the first few episodes.
I wouldn't call it speculation, though. More like... understanding that the human body is a very fragile thing, and the fight choreographers probably didn't bother to do research into how easy it is to kill a person doing the sorts of things Daredevil does.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Right, anyway...
Well he's still incredibly strong and could conceivably kill someone. You don't need training to end someone's life when you could snap their back like a toothpick.
They did, though it's worth noting several of the guys in the elevator were pursuing Steve again later that day, including Rollins and Rumlow. But they had hefty amounts of Plot Armor.
He didn't kill anyone at SHIELD when he was still under the impression SHIELD was going Well-Intentioned Extremist on him. Afterwards - well, he's directly responsible for three airships full of bad guys being blown up, though he didn't do that personally. However, he definitely killed at least one pirate on Batroc's ship, possibly two.
IIRC he actually did hit the guy behind him.

In the comics its said that he can control the spin and force of the throw so he can either embed it in things, have it bounce off things, or bonk someone without shattering their brains.
Its not like its sharp tipped. He just inexplicably throws it that hard.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersLots of those were the disposable unusued suits in Iron Man 3, that had no real play except to be thrown at the Extremis soldiers in the Conservation of Ninjutsu climax.

I still like his Battle of New York armour from avengers. I just really think that one is the most Aesthetically pleasing armour (in addition to being quite effective). I wish he'd just kept that look while improving the abilities.
On a completely different note, (and stop me if I mentioned this before) but I just realized something else about Coulson as well as Shield as a whole.
Remember how....calm Phil was after seeing Thor for the first time. He'd just witnessed something pretty incredible, but he took it pretty well, in contrast to Jane, Darcy, and Selvig who were kinda freaking out though in a good way.
Also, we have Fury calming speaking of a potential invasion with the council. Not a big deal at the time......
Then comes Season One of Agents Of Shield, which reveals the Kree corpse, and you suddenly realize the truth. Of course their calm. This isn't them realizing aliens are out there. This is them seeing the other shoe drop. That's why they were making those Destroyer and Tesseract based weapons. They knew aliens were coming (since they'd had their hands on alien tech for years in the form of the Tesseract) and this was just showing them that these dudes were now paying attention to earth.
Another way of subtle Foreshadowing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
One Strip! One Strip!
I really doubt the writers planned that far ahead, so no, that's not Foreshadowing. That's just Fridge Brilliance.
They might have.
I mean, I assume they have a big plan in mind for this, and there's a unified verse thing going (which is arguably much more coherent than the comics because it's actually supposed to end at some point).
You could be right about it just being unintentional Fridge Brilliance though. something that wasn't planned, but ended up working in their favour, but I think they've had an idea of where they are going for too long for it to just be a coincidence.
One Strip! One Strip!

Which is what you want to do when death isn't an option.
