Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

We have no idea how time works on Asgard, so they could have been born and inspired the myths.
Also, the MCU could have the Ragnarok Cycle, like the MU. (Especially since the next movie is called Thor: Ragnarok.) That's what I believe makes the most sense.

If I'm reading the list right, he could smoke crack cocaine...but not tobacco. Which is really a point aside since I don't think drug use has ever really been a part of Spider-Man's character.
As for the...demographic restrictions, I can't say I'm all that surprised but it still is a little weird to see them spelled out like that. Of course there's nothing stopping Marvel from exploring other spider-powered heroes, and they should since it's something the previous iterations of Spider-Man never really explored.
I'd say sprinkle in other spider-men/women in both the Spider-Man movies (starting with Gwen Stacy before the end of the first Spider-man standalone) and other MCU films and so when he goes up against the Sinister Six in the 3rd Spider-Man movie he won't be quite so outnumbered.

Pretty sure Loki at least was born in the late 900's, at the end of the war with the Jotuns.
And according to Wikipedia
, the earliest references to Loki are about 1000 CE, making it entirely possible. Heck, the Poetic Edda wasn't written until the 13th century.

It's worth noting that while the Asgardians of the comics are gods with divine powers and all that, the Asgardians of the MCU are Sufficiently Advanced Aliens.
Also, if the Asgardians of the movies were constantly reincarnating, we'd know it by now. For one, Bor wouldn't still be dead.

If Earth X is canon, that means the Asgardians (and all gods) are Sufficiently Advanced Aliens, too.
I mean, the Asgardians have always walked that fine line between "actual gods" and "super-advanced aliens posing as gods." At the moment, they are somewhere in the middle, with magic and technology.

The actual space gods
tend to mess with preconceptions of gods and aliens too.
RE: Leaked list of Spidey specifications:
Yeesh, just how easy is it to leak stuff at Sony?
EDIT: Also, it just hit me. They're doing a new Spidey movie. How are Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone taking it? I can imagine Andrew being at least a little butthurt that his time as Spidey didn't last as long as Tobey Maguire's...

What are you talking about? There were only two Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies.
THERE WERE ONLY TWO.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.
...
...
Actually I'm pretty sure that there is a trope page for Spider-Man 3...
(Spash pulls out a minigun from out of nowhere.)

...is what I would say if we actually did have a page for it, but I guess we don't, so ok.
Turns out, it was a scene from a third movie that apparently was in production, but never saw the light of day after a disastrous test screening. (Critics were vomiting, the other audience members were getting out their shotguns; it was a fricking nightmare.) Rumour has it that you can download it from some backwater bootleg site, if you want to see just what made the unfinished film so 'legendary'. Just like the 90's Fantastic Four movie!

Well, yeah, but they weren't even born when the myths about them originated, so I made that theory.
