Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.

  • This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
  • While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
  • Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

    Original post
Since Thor and now Captain America came out this year, I wanted to get what Tropers thought of the concept and execution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. Personally I love the idea and wonder why this idea hasn't been seriously tried before. It sorta seems to me like the DCAU in movie form (And well, ummm, with Marvel), and really 'gets' the comic book feel of a shared universe while not being completely alienating.

Biological weaponry was once Zemo's thing. Albeit the original Zemo, but they could easily be compositing him.

This explains that one comment from the Atlanta Filming Twitter about Cap and disease. Some people speculated he would get his serum taken away from him but I think this makes more sense given that he's supposed to also be in both Infinity Wars.

We knew that, I thought. The only official ones were the ones with Cap, Thor and Iron Man.

As the person in the post even says for all Marvel's problems I doubt they'd do something that blatantly eyeroll-worthy.

They might be adapting the events of Red Zone to some degree, where Red Skull unleashed a biological weapon to try and start a war.

Never read that story, but I could see a spin on it as Zemo using a plague to reduce the world's population to more manageable numbers.

The Russian poster for Ant Man was the coolest one. It represented his abilities in a really cool graphical way.

I also really like the Black Widow and Hawkeye ones.

Wait, there isn't an official Hawkeye one? Come on, now...

Maybe with Hawkeye being the butt monkey of the MCU this continuity's version of Peter Parker can catch a break.

Hawkeye got a couple really good moments in AOU though.

It wasn't a snub against Hawkeye. The only Avengers who got shout-outs in the poster were the "big 3". Not even Hulk got one.

It looks like Marvel is official skipping SDCC though their TV division will be there.

"The island is flying. We're fighting an army of robots. I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes any sense."

Possibly my favorite line in the entire film.

I didn't think it was a snub, its just that Ant-Man standing on top of one of Hawkeye's arrows is such an iconic thing that I was surprised Marvel didn't do it themselves.

Hawkeye can't even enjoy his favorite TV series without almost having it ruined for him.

Dog Cops. I can't help but think this involves Doggie Cruger somehow. Funny scan though. Thank you.

Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?
