Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm guessing Stark Industries is a massive tech conglomerate. Their main focus used to be on weapons, but they probably had subsidiaries in all sorts of civilian tech (like all those holograms and holographic displays we see everywhere in the movies), manufacturing tech (all those robots and VI's that probably aren't as smart as JARVIS to run them), and space tech (Stark has access to satellites like Veronica, so I'm assuming they do).
They're probably some combination of Boeing, Tesla, and Google (minus the internet and software focus).

In Avengers Tony said he's basically the only name in renewable energy, and as far back as the first Iron Man movie told that reporter about things like "smart crops" and other non-weapon technologies.
So yeah, tech conglomerate seems to be about right.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff. There's tons of stuff to develop for the military that doesn't involve weapons manufacturing or pewpewpew. Like the Falcon exo-suit and DARPANET. My dad's a military contractor who works on communications technology and my own job involves DOD-funded research on developing drugs to protect first responders from radiation damage should they need to go to nuclear disaster areas like Fukushima.
No, they said she has "a company to run." And she does, because Tony made her CEO of Stark Industries in Iron Man 2.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Anyway the stuff from the Joblo report sounds really cool. Excited to see Redwing, as long as they don't make it act overly birdlike. And the news of tank-like Warmachine is great, it's just as he should be. The Cap costume and chainmail could be interesting, considering how similar (yet vastly better IMO) his Civil War costume is to the Age of Ultron one.

I'm wondering if the stuff about Panther going after Bucky is tied to Stark since they both have reasons to want to take him down. I'm very interested to see what they do with him.
If he ends up on the run he might want to get rid of the costume he had on before since it was from the period when Stark was running the team.
EDIT: The guy who posted the article had a few extra details on Twitter and says Winter Soldier is key to how everything shakes out and that Zemo is ultimately key in the whole conflict. He also says the sides will change up as the film progresses, with certain people switching teams.

It is worth pointing out though that War Bonds Cap was SUPPOSED to look dumb. It was both a Mythology Gag for comic fans as well as the director making a point about how not everything from the comics translates well to live-action.
It is with much sadness that I announce the following news: Guardians of the Galaxy has not been nominated for a Teen Choice Award.

Forever liveblogging the Avengersthe music was too old for them
And wait, do we even care about this at all?
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectFor a second, I thought you said that it was nominated, which made me wonder why that was a bad thing.
Oh well, it sucks, I guess. Is there, like, a reason it wasn't nominated
Oh God! Natural light!Keep in mind, this is the same group that gave "Best Fight of 2010" to some Twilight vampire and werewolf punching each other with CGI and not the Inception hallway fight that was staged on a spinning set that warped gravity from several stories high. Moral is, don't trust them Teen Choices.

Wasn't the movie very clear about the company also doing other stuff from the get go and now making a lot of money in the energy business due to the arc reactor technology?
