Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

"And another thing..."
So he wanted to reformat the planet and ensure he'd survive, but his supposed sole base of production was the means to do so, and every body of himself was at or directly above ground zero?
The more I think about this movie, the dumber it gets. And I haven't even gotten into everything wrong with the Mind Gem.
Above, specifically. And they fly, so it's not like they were planning to ride the meteor down.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.During the movie I ignored my nagging brain for this part, but this part keeps having me thinking that Ultron would have had a very good reason to not attempt nuclear destruction. Nukes create EMPs, so Ultron might have ended up frying anything electronic he could use
in process of slaughtering humanity.
That might raise the question if he's EMP-hardened, but I get the feeling that Iron Man won't be if he fights Winter Soldier, which would likely mean Ultron wasn't either. Just a theory, though.
If he had gone with operation nuke 'em all, he might have prepared a bunker where he could safeguard a himself.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersLike his base of operations in Sokovia. He could have EMP-shielded the plant where he was manufacturing his drones.

. Faux magazine covers talking about how Super Special Awesome T'Challa and his Bodyguard Babes are. It's quite interesting.

Those are all very cool.
Jackson says he's not in Civil War
but is going in to renew his contract. Then again Anthony Mackie also spent months telling people he wasn't in Age of Ultron, so I'm not sure how reliable that is.

To be fair, it looked like Mackie legitimately had no idea he was in the movie until they brought him in to shoot. His appearance did seem a bit last minute, and Marvel in general typically doesn't tell their actors anything until the moment they need to know.

Of course Jackson wants a contract extension. Unlike most of the actors involved in the MCU, playing Nick Fury was his idea. He gave them his likeness rights for the comics on the grounds that he gets to be Nick Fury if movies are made. This is a dream fulfilled for him.
Unlike the other actors, I would be genuinely shocked if Jackson's contract came up and he went, "Nah, I think I'm done. It's been a good ride, but I got other stuff I want to do now."

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.You gotta love Samuel L. Jackson. He stands out as a guy who really loves acting, and as such plays fun and outrageous roles completely unabashed.
I'd bet that even on the off-chance Marvel's money dried up and they couldn't pay for big name actors any more, Sam Jack would still gladly do it.

I think he really loves this role. Which is part of the reason why it is so much fun to watch him.
Hayley Atwell is great, but she is not as famous as SLJ. Plus, she mostly had a cameo in order to tie in to her own show. They didn't really make such a big deal around Peggy being the founder for SHIELD in Ao S before Agent Carter came around.

Did he say what legal issues? It's not like anime dubs, where you've got union/non-union difficulties. They should all belong to the same union, which helps smooth through that sort of thing.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.![]()
That sounds about right.
Yeah, and during Jimmy Kimmell, all of the Avengers actors said they were willing to show up...and I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen.
They are contracted to a certain number of movies and, barring cameos, they pretty much have to stick to that number before renegotiating. This probably doesn't include TV shows, so they probably have to ask what amount actors are willing to appear on TV for...
...and Sam Jackson, awesome person that he is, probably agreed to appear for much less than he does in the movies. He not only made a cameo in the second episode, but played a large role in the first season finale.
Since Hayley Atwell was already contracted for TV (with her own show), she probably had no trouble adding in two cameos for Agents of SHIELD.
