Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The shows have had a solid track record with their female characters on both sides, partly because of the format. As for female villainesses, so far I can think of Deathbird, Mystique, (Dark) Phoenix, Madelyne Pryor, Callisto, Selene, Lady Deathstrike, Cassandra Nova, maybe Spiral (though I mostly just know her from the old Capcom games), Amora, and Morgan Le Fay. Only the last two are non-X-men related.
Off the top of my head for villains they actually have access to, there's Titania, if we ever get She-Hulk. Enchantress is a possibility, but I'm certain the third movie will either be Surtur or Jormungandr. There's also the second and third Beetles - I think the third one has a really cool niche, especially, so I'd love to see her in the MCU. Songbird was once a villainess, and if we ever get a Thunderbolts film she should definitely be a member.
Lots of Marvel's major female villains have been Femizons
at some point, which makes their page a handy list of ones who might make it to film.

Enchantress is such a prominent villain that I'm actually kind of shocked she's yet to appear.
Ditto Moonstone and Songbird though the latter would possibly be an Anti-Hero since she ended up reforming.
There's an armored villain called Beetle. He's like evil Iron Man. He eventually reformed and two of his successors were women
.

Most of the well-known supervillains are male, unfortunately.
Heh, MODAM.

Oh God! Natural light!I don't know how I forgot them but there's also the Red Skull's daughter Sin
and Madame Masque
.
Its not clear how it will ultimately shake out but Slott seems to have railroaded Black Cat into just being a villain, no -anti attached.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI think it's only been Guardians of the Galaxy that had that? Haven't seen it elsewhere in the MCU.
It's a convention of the genre/industry, not something the MCU invented.
There's also Lorelai in Agents Of Shield, IIRC. And I might be remembering this wrong, but I'm pretty sure Agents 33's only real fights are against either May or Bobbi. Likewise, while the finishing blow ultimately comes from Mr. Hyde, Jiaying's is framed as Skye's problem primarily and the big fight is between the two of them.

Not quite. They made her a Well-Intentioned Extremist who basically realized the only way to stop Gotham's mobs from callously murdering a bunch of people was to conquer them and run them herself.
Black Cat is a straight villain though.
On the Designated Girl Fight, I agree but I also really wanna see Captain Marvel fight Moonstone.

Black Widow was a villain at one point, wasn't she? Like, seriously a villain. Not an anti-villain or Punisher-style anti-hero?
