Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Hudlin was also responsible for:
- Black Panther defeating the Silver Surfer by putting him in an arm-bar.
- Retconning the original confrontation between Captain America and BP's father so that instead of being two skilled warriors parting as equals, the story was now that T'Chaka effortlessly kicked Cap's cracker ass out of his country.
- Retconning the original meeting between BP and Storm so that instead of BP being awed at the majesty and power of Storm in action, he instead saved her and impressed her with his manliness; thereby providing justification for BP to take Marvel's best black female character as his bride despite little to no character interaction previously.
- Establishing that Wakanda had cured cancer a long time ago but kept that secret from the world because f*ck all of you.
This is not a man I want to be in charge of anything in the MCU.

Ant Man is still part of Phase 2 right? So is it supposed to take place before AOU?
#IceBearForPresidentSimilarly, Wolverine started as a Hulk villain, but you would need a lot of bribes and a lot of drugs to get a judge to rule in favor of Marvel Studios having his rights.

It was only when he was brought back to join the X-Men that they made him a regenerating mutant with metal bonded to his skeleton and the claws grafted to his arms. Then, even later, they changed the claws to being also part of his mutation and just had the metal bonded to the claws like the rest of his bones.
He's undergone a lot of character revisions over the years, as well as some aborted ones, like the time one writer wanted to establish that he was an actual wolverine mutated into human form.

x7 Yon-Rogg is portrayed as hating Mar-Vell to the point of being willing to die to take him down for pretty much just existing and being the boyfriend of the woman Yon has a fixation on and he hates Carol because she carries his hated foe's colors and symbol(not to mention daring to stand up to him). A point that they brought up in the last book was that he has been pretty much a sleeper agent on Earth since his "death" in the origin of Carol and now just wants to go home
◊ to Hala(the Kree doesn't care for him so he decides to make Earth into Hala).

Groot wasn't originally a Hulk villain, he was a monster from one of those monster comics Marvel used to publish before they started doing superheroes with the Fantastic Four. So Groot is actually one of the oldest characters in the Marvel movies (publication-wise), with only Cap and Bucky predating him. The Guardians of the Galaxy Groot has pretty much nothing to do with the original Groot though... They're both plant persons, and that's about it for the similarities. For whatever reason Keith Giffen decided to revive this long-forgotten tree monster instead of creating a completely new original character, which the GoG Groot for all purposes is.

Yeah, I know, which is why Yon-Rogg is probably going to be Carol's Starter Villain. But at the same time, they've already had a Kree fanatic as a villain, so they would still need to change it up somehow.
When Rocket and Groot first met, Groot could say many words and also didn't care for Rocket over much.
During Annihilation war, I think.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYon-Rogg is more of a dick than a fanatic. If the Supreme Intelligence asked Ronan and Yon to capture Mar for being friendly towards Carol, Ronan would use his hammer to keep Carol from interfering and try to soften his blows so that Mar can stand trial once they get back to Hala. Yon would unleash Kree Sentries on Mar while bombarding the area with lasers from space not caring about civilian casualties or if Mar might die.
At the end of the day Ronan is loyal to the Kree and their way of life while Yon-Rogg is selfish and only cares about doing what he wants.

Pretty much my #1 fear of Captain Marvel from a storytelling view is that Thanos or a Inhuman explode a Terrigen Bomb on Earth during IW 1 and that Carol turns out to be just another Inhuman in the MCU.
Edit:@Captain Marvel villain: Moonstone works great as a starter villain but I wouldn't mind Yon-Rogg, Deathbird, the Kree or the Brood.
