Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Or they forcibly resurrect Cap using one of the stones (and/or Thanos does it to torture them), resulting in the gem-created him having to convince them to let the memory of him go and fight as one (since if Tony is still indirectly responsible for his death that'll probably be a wedge driving point in the team) one last time.

Hey, what if they make it seem like he bit the dust, but it turns out that's he's in hiding, like how it was in Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
My understanding of the contract is that it obligates the actor to return in the event future movies are filmed that want his character, but does not require the studio to use that character.
So, like, if Jim Carrey signed a nine-picture deal to play Carnage, for the duration of nine film appearances, the studio would have to use Jim Carrey for the role of Carnage and Jim Carrey would have to appear when the studio wanted to make movies with Carnage in them, but if the studio only made one movie with Carnage and never used the character for anything else, nothing happens.
I don't think the contracts usually have a "You must use all of my character's appearances within X time frame" clause. For the most part, they lock the actor into a role, not the studio.

Well, there certainly is a clause concerning how to handle the scheduling. If an actor has already signed up for a movie and is set to film let's say in in January 2016, I can't imagine that another studio can come along later and insist that he fulfils his obligation exactly at the same time as he does the other movie.

Yeah, I'm not sure how that works. I know I've seen it happen plenty of times. "X has a reduced role this film/season because of scheduling conflicts with another film/show s/he is working on."

Edit: @Gotg2: I would use this movie to introduce Moondragon and have Phyla be mentioned in Captain Marvel(if Mar-Vell shows up in it)so she can join the team in Gotg3.
It will probably be Mantis instead because she's easy to turn into a alien, doesn't need that much special effects to show her powers/fighting style and they can avoid having more representation in their movies so they won't scare away new viewers. Mantis is on the bottom of my list of what female Guardians to add because she's so boring compared to all the rest.

A bit late here, but I'm not the only one who realized that in Ao U, Sokovia was basically a stand in for Kosovo was I ?

How It Should Have Ended basically said the same thing.
Superman: You keep dying and bringing people back to life, nobody will accept it if one of you actually gets killed someday.
Captain America: (laughs) None of us are gonna die! That's silly talk.
Batman: Okay, well we'll see.

Josh Keaton is 36 years old. I love the guy and think he should always voice animated Peter, but even for Dawson Casting, that's a bit much.

I don't like The New Avenger or anything that explicitly mentions the Avengers really since technically it would apply to basically any character being debuted after the first Avengers movie and destined to appear as an Avenger at some point. Plus I don't think they need to hit people over the head with the fact he's in the MCU that hard, just having a single established MCU character appear in the movie will be enough for anyone in the audience who cares.
I'd say they could just call it "Spider-Man" and leave it at that. If we must do something different, then I'd say give it a subtitle based on whatever storyline they are loosely adapting or something that references the villain of the story.

Spider-Man calling himself spectacular? That actually happened in Civil War.

The Hood would be cool as the Big Bad of the Netflix Defenders show.

Turns out Loki taunts the heroes by greeting them upon reaching Thanos by turning into Cap.
