Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Same. I thought the interactions between him and Steve hit all the right emotional notes in both films, whether seen as best friends, brothers, or more. It struck me as oddly dismissive Steve seemed about him in Ultron. I was expecting at least a token mention in Steve's vision considering he seemed pretty regretful about not going back to retrieve his not-actually-dead body.
I thought Steve's vision was more about him having no fucking idea what to do if the war ended.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThink about it, though.
He goes into the War because he wants to help people. Becomes a super warrior. Fights and fights and then dies. And then he's not dead anymore, and immediately starts fighting again. He doesn't know how not to fight.
My various fanfics.
Exactly.
You know, if Chris Evans ever does leave the movies, then I think a fitting way to end Steve's arc would be to have him save the day through some sort of action that doesn't involve fighting; in doing so, he sacrifices his life, but is finally at peace, and is able to at last end his fight. Maybe he could do something to this effect at the climax of Infinity War?
Civil War had him get assassinated while letting himself be arrested, because he chose to stop fighting Iron Man (for the dumb reason of "why did we fight in the middle of the city", he should know better.) If he's given a better reason to forfeit this time, then it could represent him hanging up that mantle.
Yes, but the reason why he was in that line of sight in the first place was because he surrendered. Red Skull and co. could arrange for him being escorted to a sniper nest after he was arrested.
Of course, Winter Soldier's climax showed Steve knows when's the time to cease fighting and when you need to keep punching even when you really don't want to. So it's got to be some different realization, perhaps.

The Osborns are such an iconic part of the Spider-Man mythos that expecting them not to show up is like expecting a Batman franchise with no Joker or a Superman franchise that never introduces the Luthors. There's inevitably gonna be Goblins.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I don't think anyone would expect there to be none at all but so soon after ASM 2 seems a little much.
Goblins! Goblins everywhere! And not a drop to... erm...
We've got green ones! Yellow ones! Grey ones! Red ones! Mutant ones! Ones with steroids! Ones from the future! Ones who frame others into looking like other ones! Ones that pretend to be demons! Ones who are actually demons! And so many more!
It's Goblin wholesale here, people!

The Goblin showing up is inevitable, but, like, he doesn't have to be the first thing. Or even as important as you'd expect.
Like, Batman The Brave And The Bold had a Joker, yeah, but for the longest time he never showed up onscreen. I thought that was a neat way to handle an iconic villain- build them up as this kind of mythical figure.

M'kay, would you like that in "evil split personality" or "driven to madness by an uncurable disease?"

... Are these just people in goblin masks?
I thought this was the 'oh god are you actually selling fantasy races as product' store
I have made a horrible mistake.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

I am for everything which involves The Winter Soldier. I want to see a lot of him this time around. I can't wait seeing him and Steve talk.
