Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

One More Day broke my heart. It was the first time I ever felt betrayed by the comics I read, because I loved the stuff with Peter unmasked and foolishly hoped it would last. I had just started reading; Civil War was what grabbed my attention enough to start picking up comics.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I saw AOU for the third time today. It really does get better with repeat viewings. I have like no issues with it now.
Well, besides the Romanoff Maximoff casting.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.![]()
I didn't know they even had a sister, though after checking IMDB it makes a lot of sense why I didn't.
Unlike the Olson twins Elizabeth was never really a child actor (aside from a bare handful of bit parts, usually as herself) and didn't really start her career on any meaningful level until about 4 years ago.

Man, Ultimate Jameson handled the truth way more gracefully.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Slander?! He did nothing of the sort! Slander is spoken. In print, it's libel.
Seriously, though, nobody's hands are clean. JJJ mandated biased articles, which in turn were fueled by Parker's dishonest journalism and debatable fraud.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.JJJ is a huge asshole jerk but he has been good to Peter over the years.
He was the one secretly paying Peter's legal bills when Peter was framed for murder by his asshole clone Kaine.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersReally? No one knows what my issue is with the casting of Pietro and Wanda? Man, and I thought I'd earned a reputation around here.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. It's all pretty well laid out here
. Short version is, Peter Parker is guilty of multiple violations of journalistic integrity as a consequence of his deliberate omission of pertinent information regarding the photographs he's taken - some of which were entirely fraudulent as we have seen him posing in front of the camera in his Spider-Man costume when he needed a quick buck, but all of which were sold under misrepresented pretenses.
Peter is a great superhero, but as a journalist, he is a liar and a fraud. Selling photos of himself to the Daily Bugle under false pretenses is a pretty serious con that he ran for the better part of a decade.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The way he treated Peter is likely the way he would treat Peter if he was really his son. JJJ is a major asshole, but he does genuinely care. Never stopped him from being an asshole, though.
I don't think it is entirely fair to say JJJ and Peter were equivalent. Peter, for most of his story as a photographer, was a young and broke man, (when not a kid). He needed the money and that was the way he found to sustain himself. JJJ, meanwhile, was the owner of a major newspaper and was doing it out of his own sense of anger.
Furthermore, although Peter is certainly dishonest, he wasn't really a fraudnote . The photos were genuine. That being said, he certainly doesn't have much room to protest against JJJ's libel when he was the one fueling it out of his own volition.
He is not a journalist, tough, and never claimed to be one. He is just the guy who takes photos.

Also I'm pretty sure he can't sue Jameson for libel twice.
@Wack'd: I'm pretty sure I got what you meant.

Forever liveblogging the Avengers

One More Day is one of the few things I've ever nerd raged about. I've had times where I had to sleep in frigid weather and the pure unbridled fury at that story was what kept me warm.
