Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

They turned Ultron's corpse into a motorcycle so Widow could have the coolest ride?

"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des Ursins@Tobias,
Thanks for saying what I have always meant to say about the Black Widow and Hulk thing but never found the words to. I have never understood when someone said nothing in the previous movie set up their relationship. Sure, it never set up a romantic per se, but there was clearly something between the two. More than anyone else in the team, they had to overcome their mutual uneasiness to be able to work together. That was something set in the first movie that made me glad they had become close.

Yeah. That was well put, Tobias. I think that is a great explanation for why Widow is perfect as Bruce's "control", and to a lesser extent, it does give depth to the emotional bond.
Although, I have to reiterate my distaste for what I call the vampire relationship trope/dynamic, wherein the guy could turn into a murderous monster at any moment and the woman is the only thing controlling him- it's framed as a metaphor for relationships, but it's really a metaphor for abusive relationships.
I think the only reason why it works here better than expected is because the Hulk is so separate from Bruce and (as Tobias noted), not only do neither of them want the Hulk to come out, Bruce would probably never Hulk out again if he didn't have to save the world/wasn't in danger of being mind controlled.

I've never liked it either. To be fair, all the previous Hulk movies (and dozens of Hulk comics) have done this "vampire relationship", as you call it, but I had hoped Whedon would recognize that and avoid it. Having a girlfriend be the one thing that holds back the Hulk always struck me as really cheap, that this huge force of anger and citywide destruction suddenly gets stopped by one sad ladyfriend. Not to mention it has certain implications about abusive relationships, as you also pointed out.
Also, to be fair, even though I didn't like the Hulk/Widow romance, there was a similar scene between Hulk and Betty in Incredible Hulk, so it's not like the idea is completely unprecedented.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Banner and Romanoff could have had radioactive spider babies.
Finally, the true origin of Spider-Man has been revealed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a What-If story where Peter killed Mary Jane because of radioactive semen?
This song needs more love.

Looks like Widow is getting another motorcycle chase scene
.
