Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Hey, at least they averted Dawson Casting. While reminding us why it's a thing.

Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.There is nothing confirmed yet. But if it turns out to be true...I wouldn't mind. Never seen him in anything, but he fulfils my main requirement for a Spider-man actor, lithe body and overly long fingers (yeah, I am still obsessed with those). I also wouldn't worry to much about what he looks like now. He is in an age in which the body changes fast, until the movie is made, he will literally grow into a less baby-faced look for sure. And even if he doesn't, it will be refreshing to see a teen played by an actual teen for a change.
I mean, this is still Dawson Casting. At least in a couple of years. I thought that Marvel was looking for a teenage actor that would like, stay a teenager all throughout Phase 3.
x4It's beautiful...
I know it's a Bond Homage, but it is quite similar to The Winter Soldier's credits. Though The Winter Soldier was almost Black Widow 0.5.
Having some of the Agents cast appears makes some sense too. If any film needs to address Coulson's secret return and bring in events from the show, it'd be one about covert stuff within SHIELD, or what's left of it.

Well, we could always just team him up with Iron Fist; they were best buddies in the comics after all. Ooh, ooh! We can rename Iron Fist 'White Iron'! Black Power&White Iron! They Fight Crime!!

...why Brad Bird and Damon Lindeloff? Like, of all the people you could hypothetically have heading up a Black Widow movie...
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I mean, Bird's fine. Incredibles, Ratatouille, all good stuff. But Lindelof?
And I mean with the general push for female directors to head up women-led movies right now...
(A push that is sadly not being made across the board, but whatever...)
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.See, I always want to engage in the whole "who's a good person for this job" thing, but like, I can't even name any female directors. I can barely name any male directors.
I'm the kinda jerk who's always like "a black Doctor? How about Idris Elba, literally the only black British actor I know of?"
"We're home, Chewie."

Because Orson Scott Card, of course.
