Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much. It is easy to forget that Marvel is still figuring out the best way to deal with the MCU. Loki worked out fine in his movies and now they have added Nebula. They are clearly paying close attention to what works and what doesn't. Honestly, has anyone expected to see General Ross again? And yet he will be in Civil War.
Blonsky is the kind of weapon you throw out when you don't care about the place or the people. He will kill and crush until he gets taken out by sleep gas or something.
Edit: He's the kind of guy who would probably fill the spot Venom had on Osborn's Dark Avengers.

I wonder if in Ant-Man Giant-Man will be an 11th-Hour Superpower for him. It would make things interesting for him being part of the big fight in Civil War.

Why would lightning even drill a hole through someone?
That's ridiculous.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe big guy is Goliath.
Tony made Clor with science, because he's an asshole.

After reading the article I can't agree with it's 2 main points, at least when the argument is being used against all the movie villains.
Point A doesn't work because most of the villains so far either had exploration or depth. Point B doesn't fit because these same antagonists were killed when they had nothing of value to offer to the planned universe anymore, so there's no worry of missed potential. Iron Monger, Red Skull, Aldrich Killian, Alexander Pierce, and Ronan The Accuser all worked for their one-time appearance in film for these reasons. The article is right about Whiplash, Malekith, and Baron von Stucker, but the first 2 were hurt by Executive Meddling so you can't blame them on their own for failing, and the last one simply couldn't be relevant in the now with HYDRA being put to bed. Ultron I'll give them because I can see why people have a problem with him.
Correction: Reed Richards and a Skrull impersonating Hank Pym made Ragnarok.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I assumed we might see Lang become Giant-Man in Civil War because the Avengers now lack a Big Guy with Hulk and Thor gone.

Skrull Pym was also an asshole.
Simply the worst.
Pym then got depressed when he returned because Skrull Pym did all the things he wanted to do, like build a clone Thor and knock-up Tigra.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe real Thor was pretty pissed when he came back and went to see Tony.
◊ This is one of the battles on Earth where he went all out without pulling his punches
◊. Tony didn't even stand a chance.
◊
edit: Full fight btw if you want to see Tony get stomped by a real god.

Worse than the ever-hilarious nutjob Pym that we know and love?
By the by, I'm still convinced Hank will turn out to be the real antagonist, albeit probably a Well-Intentioned Extremist, in Ant-Man.

Much worse.
Stark was involved in the same sense that Stark was leading the Pro-Reg movement and is thus involved in everything they did, but it was Reed's super-science that made a Thorbot, and Skrull interference that made a murderous Thorbot.

I liked Ronan. "Xandar! You stand accused!" was certainly memorable. But he was the perfect one-movie-villain. And setting up Nebula as well as Yondu (who is not a villain, but kind of an antagonist, which is just as good) was a smart move for future movies.
At least nobody can accuse Marvel of being too afraid to kill off the villains. We can properly worry about their fate every movie.
