Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Pyro's the worst. He can't even create fire. He has to control preexisting flames, which is why he carries around a big fuck-off fuel tank on his back.
My various fanfics.Fire's just so exploitable. More interesting than yet another Flying Brick, anyway.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Until such a time that the terrigen mist spreads across the world, similar to what happened in the Infinity event, the Inhumans aren't much of a substitute for mutants. Mutants can just suddenly discover themselves at puberty. Inhumans require a deliberate, premeditated action to unlock theirs.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Who is not a fire person, despite what the movie may have done with him.
Ah, right. Forgot about him. Isn't there an earthquake villain? I remember one from the X-Men cartoon after the 90s cartoon.
My mistake. Afghani woman.
Name's Dust. She's Sunni. I could only remember she's Muslim.
Ah, right. Avalance.

Avalanche? Though his powers are more along the line of controlling vibrations or something like that.
x3 Well, he absorbs solar energy and converts it into strength. Maybe the writer of DOFP thought that was close enough?
Also Sunspot is super strong but not invulnerable nor super-tough, even though that makes no sense, Required Secondary Powers and all.

Sandman is usually more of an Anti-Villain these days. He was on the Avengers at one point.
Unrelated to that bit of racism, I found this on her Wikipedia page:
Comics should take a page out of Darker Than Black or Infamous Second Son's books. There's loads of Heart Is an Awesome Power potential there, although some of it might be a little dark for most comics.
If it make it any better, she is actually a good character and for a while was the most relevant Muslim super-hero in Marvel.
But, yeah, she had serious problems with stereotyping.
Probably. Which is dumb because it he ended up being nothing alike the actual character. "Sun powers" is definitively not the same as "fire powers". Specially when your sun powers make you pitch black (like a sunspot) and being in fire makes you fucking bright.
Phoenix actually doesn't use fire itself all that much. It is mostly a motif to display power. Her thing tends to be more in line with telekinesis and telepathy (although she can do much more).
