Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Generally speaking, Quicksilver seems to interact with objects at their actual velocity. We also see it when he grabbed the hammer; not being able to grab it out of its flight path is one thing, but once he touched it, it dragged him with it all the way to the end of its course.
With this in mind, it should be impossible for him to grab a bullet out of the air without the bullet piercing his skin as it would if it struck him normally. Him moving faster does not cause them to move slower. He can dodge them more easily, but can't counteract ballistic physics, if that makes sense?

Would J.A.R.V.I.S. Be an AI or VI? I've always seen him as AI.

It does to me. His power doesn't really defy physics. He is fast, but he doesn't nullify momentum.

Fox's Quicksilver was considerably faster, as far I could tell. And, actually, I don't think even he could catch bullets. He deflected them from their path instead.
VI, I think. And I always seem him as such. He never seemed self aware to me.

Fox Quicksilver seems to be powered by the goddamn Speed Force. MCU Quicksilver is fast but I don't think he has quite as many Required Secondary Powers as Barry Allen.
With the speed at which, Fox!Quicksilver hit those Pentagon guards with plates/frying pans/their own fists they should be either in a coma or outright dead.
Its a fun, iconic scene but c'mon Quicksilver those guards were just doing their jobs.
If I recall, he moves so fast stopping time might as well be his mutant power.

A look at Cap in Civil War
◊. ...It's pretty much just his AOU costume with some very minor alterations.
Just thought, it would have been really funny if Quicksilver was a massive troll and moved all the bullets away from Xavier and Magneto and made them all hit Wolverine, knowing his Healing Factor would let him live.
Cue a pissed off Wolverine.

How do you people pick up on these things? I can never tell when Cap's outfit changes.
Why do they do that anyway? Tony has the excuse that he builds improved armors when he's bored but Cap shouldn't have to change his uniform that much.
Did he know about that yet? He just met these guys a few hours ago.

Actually, Cap had a decent excuse for all movies so far. He needed a new outfit for Avengers, since the previous one was 70 years old. In Winter Soldier, he was working for SHIELD as a quasi-spy, so his outfit couldn't be too flashy. In Age of Ultron, he is back to super heroing, so an iconic flashy outfit was more appropriate again.

Son of Coul will return to the movies.

Loeb: There’s a plan. It’s just one of those things that when it pops, folks will see it.

Yeah, that wasn't what happened. The shells were already lined up on the desk; we focused on them because one was wobbling from the momentum of Quicksilver speeding past it.
On that note, I want to give credit both to Ulysses Klaw for being amazingly cool in the face of super-powered assailants and a goddamn robot, and also to Ultron for being possibly the only fictional AI I have ever seen that could actually pass the Turing Test.
