Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

They're really not, though. It generally takes just one goat to be known as the Goat-F*cker, no matter how much good one does besides. Nobody cares what Darren Wilson's career was like before he shot Michael Brown. He could have been the greatest cop ever, solving numerous murders and rapes, apprehending countless criminals, protecting babies in orphanages, etc. It wouldn't matter, because he shot Michael Brown.
Michael Jackson was only absolved of the allegations of pedophilia in the public eye after he died.
Who even remembers or cares about O.J. Simpson's football career? How about his film acting?

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I don't think people are going to be more wary of the Avengers as a whole; I think the worst the group is going to get is accusations of negligence in allowing the Hulk so much free reign. They're going to get a lot more shit over the Hulk rampage than anything else.
Banner's pretty much gone right back to Public Enemy Number One, though.

Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. After the MCU was established Thanos once beat up Carol, Steve, Bruce and Thor at the same time in a event with some backup on his side(who were pretty quickly beaten down leaving Thanos and a elite mook versus the rest). This is his reaction to Thor.
◊
Thanos two rivals in his life was Adam Warlock and Captain Mar-Vell. Both were pretty much the strongest heroes in their age who weren't actual gods.

I wonder if SHIELD might have censored or put a lid on that one though, because when Bruce muses leaving the team, he says that South Africa was the first time the public ever saw the "real Hulk" and that now they would turn on the Avengers. If that's the first time the public ever saw the Hulk as a malicious, destructive force, that would suggest they weren't fully aware of his previous rampages.
On that subject
, Mark Ruffalo confirms Hulk is not in Civil War. Evans says Civil War also sets up things for Infinity War.

Oh, yeah, once Infinity War rolls around, people will be fine with him coming back. The general public has a short attention span. Today, he's a walking disaster zone that nearly destroyed a city for no good reason. Tomorrow's a bit early for him to come back from that. Next month, all will be forgiven.
His public appearances prior to that were either in response to GEN Ross's horrifically public attempts to neutralize him, which are more Ross's fault than Banner's, or that one time when he broke Harlem to stop the Abomination. This was the first time the public ever experienced the Hulk instigating an unnecessary conflict.

I'm reminded that the Rising Tide leaked video of the Harlem incident has the Abomination colored green and identified as the Hulk.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersAt the time, Culver University was probably terrifying, especially given the lack of information as to what was happening. However, the fact that Ross was unloading heavy-grade military weaponry on a civilian locale in his own goddamn country to provoke the Hulk into an engagement with potentially disastrous results would not be difficult to spin in Banner's favor at all, given that Banner was basically a victim in that.
Once the Chitauri Invasion made people willing to give Banner's side a listen, I would not be surprised if Ross's name was heavily vilified in social media.

It'd be dumb but we'd get a Black Widow movie!

Forever liveblogging the AvengersThere have been several people in this very thread also complaining about it.
Also, nobody is ever the only anything on the internet.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersFirst of all, who's Private Lorraine, and second, to ![]()
, wouldn't Marvel not be allowed to use Madame Hydra, since Fox used her for The Wolverine?

You mean like how Marvel can't use Quicksilver, because Fox used him first in Days of Future Past?
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. That one woman who was flirting with Steven which Peggy walked in on in First Avenger.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDid Ultron feel like a total Anti-Climax Boss to anybody else? The Avengers weren't exactly having trouble in the last fight.
Also, Helicarrier Ex Machina.
x4 Private Lorraine was the blond woman played by Natalie Dormer who pulled Steve into a kiss in The First Avenger and made Peggy mad. The above joke script has Yelena Belova played by her. Hence the jokes about them being the same.
No, Marvel wouldn't be able to use Madame Hydra in the films (I think), but she did show up in the Captain America: Super Soldier tie-in game.

I think the point is more that Tony would sacrifice himself in a heartbeat if necessary...and Vision is practically his child. So he might get the idea to do it, too.
