Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

On the Agents of Shield connection I'm pretty sure the carrier isn't the Theta protocol, seeing as the carrier in Ao U is the one belonging to 'Real' Shield, that right there is the connection I'm pretty sure.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ Cyran
We know it's the same one, the hull number is the same as the one in the first film and the one in the show is confirmed (via twitter word of god) to be the one from the first film.
Note: Spoilers in the above space. Be wary.
So, am I the only one pissed that they killed off Quicksilver?
I suspect that him dying this is so that Fox can have Quicksilver, while Marvel can use the Scarlet Witch.
That being said however, I'm desperately hoping there's still a sample of that crazy Kree blood left. I mean, this is exactly what it was made for.

One Strip! One Strip!![]()
I was okay with them killing Quicksilver. Someone had to die in the movie, and I missed that character less than I would plenty of the others.
It creates interesting character directions for Scarlet Witch in the future, because she has to deal with the fact that something she started - Tony created Ultron the way he did, and at the speed he did, because of the vision she gave him - ended up killing her brother, the only person she was really close to.
Also, it means that the new Avengers are less of a white-guy club than the old Avengers: in the movie's ending scene, I count two black guys, two white women, one white guy, and one red-coloured android.

At least the token doesn't conform to the stereotype of A.I. Is a Crapshoot. Not all androids want to kill humanity!
Also, I liked this movie. Still digesting thoughts about it, probably will post a full review later.

Or the stereotype of Blunt Metaphors Trauma, either. So happy to have an AI character who actually understands how language works (come on, that's not a difficult thing to program compared to, oh, making an AI in the first place). And who has emotions.

What I find amusing is that the real Jarvis is not as sarcastic as J.A.R.V.I.S., which means that even when basing his AI on someone real, he still make a point of making them extra sarcastic.
I'm seeing this negative review really make the rounds:

How much of this do you think is applicable and how much of it is the usual Tumblr not being able to separate canon from fanon/shipping and Accentuate the Negative in the form of "look for hidden Unfortunate Implications" mentality?

One thing that doesn't make much sense to me. Why doesn't tony deck Hawkeye, Black Widow and Captain America in full Iron Man armors?
It would take away some of their strongest skills in a fight: it's hard to draw a bow while wearing armour, and it would decrease Widow's and Cap's agility. And the armours don't need people inside them in order to fight.
Also, it would make the movies boring if four of the main characters (five, counting War Machine) were just variations on Iron Man.
