Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Saw it last night. I liked it, but it felt less fun, and didn't give me as much frission. Lotta great jokes, especially the one that closes out the film.
By the way, Feige and Co. are telling the truth: No after-credits scene, just a mid-credits one.
Oh, and the character with an Irish accent? At first, I thought it was plain Oirish, but actually the actress is from Tipperary. Which is as close to Oirish as Ireland gets.
...See, here's the problem. I know a theatrically released Spider-Man animated movie isn't going to be based on any preexisting continuity because that'd alienate its potential audience too much. But at the same time, IT SHOULD STILL BE A CONTINUATION OF SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN, DANG IT! SONY HAS THE RIGHTS TO THAT, DON'T THAT? THEY COULD DO IT IF THEY WANTED! THEY COULD DO IT IF... *dragged away in straightjacket*
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon. It might be a Origin movie for MCU!Peter if the stuff I'm hearing from Cinemacon15 is correct.

WHY? WHY DO YOU EVER NEED TO DO AN ORIGIN STORY FOR SPIDER-MAN EVER AGAIN? IT'S COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT. FUUUUUUCK OOOOOOOFF.
My various fanfics.
I'll agree it's kind of played out by this point, but there might still be some good that can come from it.
Mind you, the best route to take here might be a slightly longer version of the opening for All Star Superman.

"Ghost in the Shell"? Since when were they doing that? Unless it's the one that Dream Works is doing?

The only way doing Spider-Man's origin yet again in the animated movie would be okay is if it's done as a wordless musical montage that's only a couple minutes long, possibly with the classic 60s theme song playing. That'd be pretty awesome, actually.
"Graphic roots" means the movie's art style and tone will be lifted directly from the Silver Age comics.
