Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I think what was meant was "a lawyer with the ability to tell when someone's telling lies."
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.
Aside from his uncanny ability to expose the truth in the courtroom, he gets a mystical Fey family artifact called the Magatama in the second game, which allows him to see locks and chains in front of people when they try to hide the truth (and which become unlocked and disappear when contradictory evidence is presented).
In addition to Phoenix, Apollo Justice is able to perceive a person's tells if they're hiding something from him, and Athena Cykes is able to use her enhanced hearing and a specially designed A.I. to read people's emotions.
Miles Edgeworth is forced to use the greatest lawyer superpower of them all...

Oh God! Natural light!I didn't watch Daredevil and probably won't anytime soon - like Arrow, I hear it's not going to be a part of the larger DC Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I wasn't seriously-
I-
...
Well that conversation ended quickly. -_-
The MCU clearly doesn't obey this IIR the second Thor film/Avengers correctly, but didn't Comics!Thor need to be holding his hammer to use his powers? Or was it just to fly? Could he fly without it?
I'm sorry, but the way he always has to swing it looked goofy in the EMH cartoon.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I'm not sure he actually needs to swing it to fly but it probably helps give him a running start or something.
Actually, have we ever seen Thor fly without the hammer? What if he isn't actually flying but he's using his telekinetic control of Mjolnir to drag him everywhere. I mean, have we seen Thor purely "levitate" or is he always in motion, hammer first?
The Blog The ArtI think Stan Lee did more for his fellow creators. Not enough mind you. They went from almost uncredited to top billing with snappy nicknames that drew attention to them. I think it only became a problem when Stan left full time writing.
My hopes for this possible future series include but are not limited to Shang-chi, Cloak and Dagger, Dethlok, She-Hulk or Ghost Rider(you know you want it)
Admittedly She-hulk will be far more possible after the Netflix stuff comes out.
Dethlok was already referenced/adapted for Agents Of Shield.
Not that 'that' ever stopped two versions of the same character from being used in two live-action things.

I don't know if conventional audiences will go for a hero with a name like "She-Hulk", though.
x6 AFAIK Thor can't fly without his hammer, neither any of the asgardians (Odin included), for that matter. However, Thor still has his other powers, including control over weather, without it. Mjolnir only helps him canalize the cosmic/mystic energies in a much more efficient way.

Oh, agreed on all counts. But if she got her own series, it would make finding a title difficult.
@Soble
You do know that all of these different Marvel Netflix shows are going to team up for the Defenders miniseries, right? On top of that, well, I'll just leave this here.
Make of it what you will.
Objectively, it also is a part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe by virtue of its main plot being directly connected to the Battle of New York in the avengers.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I should also mention that since it's on Netflix, you can watch it at your leisure (presuming, of course, that you have access to Netflix).
Oh God! Natural light!

I just realize: Matt is a lawyer with the ability to tell lies. He's totally Phoenix Wright!
