Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Saw Daredevil. Loved pretty much everything about it besides Ben's death, but hey, twelve episodes with only one in which he's subjected to intense pain is a pretty respectable run for a black male lead on a Marvel show.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.TL;DR: MCU!Spider-Man movie will not be an origin story, so commence the sighs of relief. And they already designed the costume, which will be different from the ones we've seen before, but will still be classic Spidey.
Sooooo....webs under the armpits, then?
We already knew it wouldn't be a origin story and a new costume is what's happened for each new Spider-Man.

...
Okay, so it's not really big news so much as it's recent news.
But really, it looks like they're primed to announce who our brand new web-crawler will be in the near future. Which is weird since they said they're weren't showing up at this year's SDCC...
Maybe we'll know at the next Disney-centered or Marvel-centered convention?
So it looks like Whedon is the one who requested
that Hawkeye and Hulk not appear very much in Phase 2, as he had very specific plans for them in AOU. He says he requested the same for Thanos as well, as he was originally going to have a bigger role in Guardians of the Galaxy.
The VP
says they want the Avengers roster to continually grow and change with certain characters leaving or joining in each movie, as they feel that's one of the interesting aspects of the comics.

So if I understand this correctly they want to tell Carol's origin in her own movie before introducing her to the Avengers as a hero in costume.
I'll have to do a run through of her origin later for the thread.
We're getting official word on the Captain Marvel writers either next week or the week after, and casting for Black Panther has started.
Additionally
, he says that Infinity War will be two distinct movies, not one story told through two films.
Drew Goddard is writing and directing the MCU!Spider-Man movie?
I'm not opposing it, but when did they establish that?

Adult Peter is a terrible idea. As folks are so fond of pointing out these days, he basically keeps making the same mistakes as teenage Peter, forever, so why not just keep him a friggin' kid?
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

I am offended that you would accuse the greatest American hero of such petty theft.
