Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Elektra and Bullseye
are "on the radar" for season 2 of Daredevil.
He may have the potential for such, but intellect is something you acquire, not something you instantly gain, after all. You could say his super-fast reflexes, ability to analyze his foe and reaction time is a indication that his brain is also enhanced.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Which is but one of many ways the comics have tried to justify the shield's ricochet powers.
It's reminiscent of the idea that the Hulk is doing complex physics equations in his head every second in order to ensure that every single piece of debris from everything he does flies in such a way as to cause no harm to bystanders; superhero writers like to use Super-Mathematics to justify Fridge Logic, and the result is generally stupider than the problem it's intended to solve.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The Ultimate books make a point of saying that it somehow made him an amazing tactician and that he was and I quote "Dumb as a sack of hammers" before he took it.
I'm not sure if they're saying it somehow made him an amazing tactician off the bat or simply gave him the intellectual capacity to learn and memorize tactics like that.
The Ultimate books also "justified" Reed Richards's intelligence by saying his superpowers made his intellectual capacity "stretchy" too, and Tony Stark's brilliance by saying he's super-powered and his body is 100% brain matter.
The Ultimate books are dumb, and one of the reasons they're dumb is a complete inability to appreciate the idea that sometimes, people excel because those people are awesome, and not because they were genetically manufactured to excel.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. It's always weird to suddenly remember "oh, yeah, folks besides Spider-Man got ultimate lines."
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.IIRC Ultimate!FF was supposed to take place a decade before all the other Ultimate books started(or at least everything up to the death of Ultimate!Annihilus was in the past)but the other books had the FF show up as teens even though they should be in their 30s at that point because no one cared about the details in the new universe which is also why Ultimate!Tony had to explain away one origin by claiming it was an in-universe anime.

To be fair, they created the new universe in the first place so that nobody had to care about the details. The Ultimate Universe was conceived as a solution to the Continuity Lock-Out of the 616, but the fundamental flaw inherent in the idea is that giving writers the freedom to play fast and loose with continuity means too many shits are being given to stories that couldn't be written in the 616WATCH OUT , leaving few for cross-title consistency.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Interesting descriptions for the newer guys:
He is a black-market arms dealer, smuggler and gangster operating out of South Africa. He is a former acquaintance of Tony Stark’s from his weapons-dealing days and a powerful new player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
She is a world-renowned geneticist and an ally of The Avengers. From her offices in Seoul, South Korea, to sharing workspace with Bruce Banner in his lab at Avengers Tower, Dr. Cho’s research and technology help keep The Avengers in the fight.
He is a brilliant HYDRA scientist who worked under the cover of S.H.I.E.L.D. for far too long. Human experimentation, advanced robotics and artificial intelligence are just a few of the things Strucker is working on when Wanda and Pietro Maximoff volunteer for his program.
I feel like I should point out that according to Serkis his role is minimal:
That could actually cause tension if he's one of Tony's former friends and murdered the ruler of a sovereign nation. I can imagine the political attack ads now.
A nice look at the Hot Toys
stuff.

And hey I just noticed Thor's:
So it sounds like he is the one to bring the Thanos plot to the Avengers.

I'm more saddened by them having apparently removed Von Strucker's backstory as a WWII veteran.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
And as we all know it is impossible for South Koreans to immigrate to America or give birth on our soil.

I thought the flash tapped into the speed force? The more he taps into it, the faster he goes; don't tap into it at all, he's human, tap into it completely, he turns into the speed force.
